Cartoonist isthe person who expresses his opinionsin the form of drawings by means ofhttp://sinirsizkarikatur.blogspot.com/newspapers, journals, exhibitions,televisions and internet.The cartoon work of today's emergedin the 17th century. In its early times, thisart dealt with the portraits of people butthen its fields of interest diversified tocritical incidents and social events.Together with this wind of change, cartoonwork also changed in terms of its drawingstyles and technical aspects. Inaccordance with the development ofprinting machine, cartoon became morewidespread. Cartoon deals with political,cultural, economical, artictic,philosophical and literary subjects. Whennewspaper cartoons are monitoredchronologically, it is possible to observea country's historical, political and socialchanges, social troubles andcontradictions. In this regard, cartoon isa daily chronicle in the form of drawings.The golden era of cartoon work is the20th century. Valuable samples of cartoonart are present both in Turkey and in therest of the world. Also, successful artistsgrew up and community supported theseartists. It would not be wrong to say thatcartoon is the most popular art for society.The 1st International Tourism CartoonCompetition, which was held with thecooperation of Anadolu UniversityResearch Center for Caricature Art,Association of Tourism Writers andJournalists [TUYED] and Anatolia: AJournal of Tourism Research, aimed toattract the attention of society and tosupport cartoonists. Attention to thecompetition was more than what wasplanned; 269 cartoonists from 50countries submitted 599 works to thiscompetition. An international selectioncommittee evaluated these cartoonworks. With the announcement of theevent as a news af ter the completion ofcompetition, some of the web sitesclaimed that the cartoon of grand awardwinner had been drawn somewherebefore. This kind of coincidences wasalso experienced by many othercompetition cartoons before. It is possibleto take these coincidences for granted toa certain degree. The grand award winnerreturned the award sensitively before theselection committee's debate on the topicwas completed. The decision wasaccepted with respect and the grandaward was cancelled.The minor failures in competition'sorganisation can be the outcome ofexcitement of being the first.
