Medical Library Forum (ISSN 1899-5829) is a Poland-wide semi-annual periodical
and it has been published since 2008 in 300 copies and is also available on the website
of the Main Medical Library of the Medical University of Łódź (http://bg.umed.lodz.
pl/).
Mr Ryszard Żmuda, PhD, is the Director of the University Library and the Editor –
in - Chief of the aforementioned periodical and prof. Jacek Bartkowiak, MD, PhD,
is the Chairman of the Programme Council. The contents of the current issue No 1.
(7) 2011 constitute articles, papers and presentations from the conference in Szczecin
concerning bio - and bibliographic headwords and iconographic materials.
The foreword to the periodical was written by brigadier general prof. Henryk
Chmielewski MD, PhD, the former rector-commandant of the divisional general
prof. Bolesław Szarecki Military Medical Academy in Łódź.
The article: Conference of the Directors of Academic Libraries of Polish Schools
(1997-2011) gives a wider background and presents practical information from the
scope of science librarianship in our country (Ewa Dobrzyńska–Lankosz, M.A.).
The remaining topics discussed concern: medicine (Włodzimierz Borkowski, PhD),
copyright (Bolesław Howorka, M.A.), standardisation (Danuta Kapinos, M.A.),
information science (Barbara Niedźwiedzka, PhD, Tomasz Milewicz, PhD,
