的 建 築 代 表 作 —— 帕 齊 禮 拜 堂 , 由 著 名 建 築 師 伯 魯 內 列
斯 基 設 計 , 無 論 結 構 空 間 和 外 部 形 體 的 風 格 都 是 一 座 打
開 時 代 先 河 的 創 新 之 作 。
也 許 因 為 這 座 禮 拜 堂 曾 是 修 道 士 們 的 教 室 , 所 以 處
處 透 著 一 股 清 新 淡 雅 的 書 卷 氣 。 那 一 道 道 劃 過 天 頂 的 曲
線 , 讓 這 裏 的 空 間 變 得 份 外 寧 靜 柔 和 。 之 間 點 綴 的 壁 畫 和
彩 繪 玻 璃 窗 多 創 作 於 十 四 世 紀 , 其 中 不 乏 大 師 的 名 作 。
和 其 它 大 教 堂 非 常 不 同 的 一 點 是 , 這 座 形 制 借 鑒 了
拜 占 庭 式 建 築 , 同 樣 有 著 圓 形 穹 頂 的 禮 拜 堂 , 卻 沒 有 那
股 直 達 天 際 、 遠 離 塵 世 的 超 凡 之 氣 , 反 而 與 周 圍 的 環 境
異 常 地 和 諧 一 致 。 這 種 設 計 思 路 來 自 於 文 藝 復 興 之 後 , 人

佛 羅 倫 薩 大 教 堂 (Florence Cathedral)
佛 羅 倫 薩 大 教 堂 的 意 大 利 名 字 是 Duomo di Firenze,
當 我 們 來 到 它 的 面 前 時 , 建 築 大 師 Leone Battista Alberti
所 說 的 :「 美 是 所 有 部 份 的 和 諧 , 任 何 的 添 加 、 刪 減 和 替
代 都 將 是 多 餘 的 。」 像 是 瞬 間 回 響 在 了 耳 邊 。 作 為 人 類 藝
術 巔 峰 的 化 身 , 這 座 大 教 堂 正 是 如 此 的 完 美 , 任 何 語 言 、
文 字 上 的 讚 美 對 它 來 說 都 像 是 多 餘 的 。
站 在 教 堂 正 面 的 廣 場 上 , 這 幢 建 築 如 同 一 件 我 們 所
想 像 中 最 精 美 的 瓷 器 。 令 人 目 不 暇 接 的 彩 繪 、 雕 塑 , 像 是
一 塊 塊 拼 圖 般 被 放 置 在 最 準 確 和 適 宜 的 位 置 上 。 尖 聳 的

等 其 他 幾 位 藝 術 家 耗 費 了 超 過 十 年 的 光 陰 和 心 血 , 在 面
積 達 38,750 平 方 呎 的 天 頂 上 繪 製 出 了 無 比 恢 弘 壯 美 的 壁
畫 。 值 得 一 提 的 是 ,Giorgio Vasari 在 這 裏 也 繪 製 了 一 幅
《 最 後 的 審 判 》。 據 說 , 文 藝 復 興 時 期 三 傑 中 的 達 芬 奇
和 米 開 朗 琪 羅 都 曾 在 這 裏 研 習 過 繪 畫 技 巧 。 那 米 開 朗 琪

爬 上 喬 托 鐘 塔 那 290 級 臺 階 , 佛 羅 倫 薩 城 市 中 那 起
伏 的 暗 紅 色 屋 頂 在 歲 月 的 洗 禮 下 依 然 傳 遞 著 生 命 的 熱
力 和 希 冀 。 此 時 , 我 們 相 信 神 靈 是 如 此 眷 顧 著 這 片 古 老
的 土 地 , 才 讓 他 的 子 民 們 在 這 裏 留 下 如 此 輝 煌 與 壯 麗 的
手 筆 。

A welcoming simplicity invited me inside the Chapel.
My eyes naturally swam in the interior’s open space,
floating upwards to a ceiling smiling with scenes of
Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, an homage to devotion.
With my attention still soaring above, the dome’s
droves of blue roundels blinked at me like a consummate
compound eye — a kind reminder from above to be
beholden to my thoughts, words and actions.
My senses soon grounded me, moving me away from
this Chapel, Michelangelo’s final resting place. Though I
departed from the virtuoso’s vault, my next stopping place
floated with frescoes as symbolic as the Sistine Chapel.
Duomo di Firenze
As my sights landed on the breathtaking Duomo di
Firenze, the wisdom of Vitruvius’ student Leone Battista
Alberti resounded — “Beauty is that reasoned harmony
of all the parts within a body, so that nothing may be
added, taken away, or altered, but for the worse.”
The Florence Cathedral is that perfect beauty, a
harmony of all the puzzle pieces perfectly placed into one.
An immaculate facade as detailed as fine China, stained
glass stories and trompe l’oeil that breathed the building
to life, and Gothic design that spoke to antiquity’s
heavenly King or to today’s civic icons, summed up man’s
journey from dust to dust, igniting our spirit in between.
The dome’s exquisite 38,750-square-foot fresco
demanded over a decade of creative sweat and toil from
Giorgio Vasari, Federico Zuccari, and a handful of others.
Its depiction of Heaven and Hell’s divine duality from
The Last Judgment became achingly clear as I ascended
the winding staircase. Once at the very top, like an angel’s
salutation, the full majestic view of Florence freed me.
Up so high, at almost a god’s-eye view, after my voyage
of discovery across the seas of Italy’s finest structures, I
fathomed for the first time how people of the past who
couldn’t read or write could just as plain as day feel
surreal divinity.
