14. Với ai, các tùy miên,
Hoàn toàn không hiện hữu,
Các nguồn gốc bất thiện
Ðược nhổ lên trừ sạch.
Tỷ-kheo ấy từ bỏ,
Bờ này và bờ kia,
Như loài rắn thoát bỏ
Da rắn cũ già xưa.
For the one with no underlying tendencies,
−−⏑⏑⏑⏑¦−⏑−⏑−−
mūlā ca 14 akusalā samūhatāse,
having uprooted all unwholesome roots,
−−⏑⏑¦−⏑−⏑−−
so bhikkhu jahāti orapāraṁ,
that monk abandons the near and far shore,
⏑⏑−−⏑⏑¦⏑⏑−⏑−−
urago jiṇṇam-iva tacaṁ purāṇaṁ. [14]
like a snake (who has abandoned) its old, worn-out skin.
