Science and technology
Our civilization will be destroyed by modern technology
Our civilization started more than a million years ago and it is no secret that
it is getting more and more difficult to live in. Why? Because we are blinded
by all the technology. We only like new things, better things, things that are
more shiny than the old ones and are more popular in the society. For so
long people did not know any technology. They lived without electricity or
television and their lives were just fine. Of course inventing new things like
a train, a television, a radio, a telephone and others was a big success. But
what happened when people realized that they needed more? Surely they
started to connect to people all around the world
and getting new information was not a problem
anymore, but that just was not enough. So they started inventing smart
phones, tablets, highly modern computers... and yet it still was not enough.
Every day someone invents something new, every hour a new invention
gets on the market, every minute someone buys that product and every
second means just another chance for someone to make something new.
And that just goes on and on because it is a vicious circle that never ends.
So how can we make it better? We can all pretend that this does not
bother or concern us, but at one point we have to admit to ourselves
that something has to change. We have to make life fun again. Without
phones and other technology. We have to start talking to each other again.
For start just put your phone down. Look up, talk to a stranger, smile to
someone who looks sad, help your schoolmate with his/her homework. Be
a person who does not need all that technology to be happy. However, do not get me wrong. I do not
mind technology. I think it is a great way to connect to people and to make memories. But I just think
that once in a while you should just stop looking at your phone and try to be present. Be someone who
has lots of new ideas for the world, but is determined not to be destroyed by all the new technology. Be
inventive, but be yourself.
