First Parents’ Talk 5 January 2019
As our children grow in their most formative years, the PTA
endeavors to find opportunities for our parents to equip
themselves and broaden their horizon. On 5 January, PTA held
the first parents’ seminar by Dr. Alman Chan Siu Cheuk ( 陳 兆 焯
博 士 ), principal and founder of Christian Zheng Sheng College ( 基
督 教 正 生 書 院 ). The title of the seminar was “Future education
( 未 來 教 育 )”.
accompanying the outing”. “… been to Macau for dozens
of times, I still find new ideas in this outing: new routes and
attractions, new things to learn and good food …”
The outing was again complemented by a photo competition,
which captured the memory and spirit of the day.
The light-hearted and witty Dr. Chan delivered an awesome
interactive session that proved to be as illuminating as it was
entertaining. Parents who attended would tell you that it was
an afternoon well worth the time. Perhaps the PTA would leave
you with an action item and a thought by Dr. Chan. The action
item: “Mommies, bring your husband along to a parent seminar
next time.” The food-for-thought, in colloquial Cantonese:「 屋
企 唔 講 道 理 , 講 愛 。」
Annual Outing 9 March 2019
The weather was supposed to be bad, but that didn’t deter us.
Perhaps it is a spirit we acquired from our sons, the PTA held
its Annual Outing as scheduled. The destination was Macau. It
was a sequel to the previous year’s outing when we had a sneak
peek of the yet-to-open Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge
(HZMB).
On 9 March, we rode the cross-border shuttle bus to experience
the trip on the HZMB. We had an introduction to the HZMB
Hong Kong Port beforehand. After lunch, we embarked on a
city heritage tour with two guides. Successfully skipping the
casinos, we walked from A-Ma Temple ( 媽 閣 廟 ) to Ruins of St.
Paul’s ( 大 三 巴 牌 坊 ), visiting a few historical sites on the way
including Mandarin’s House ( 鄭 家 大 屋 ) and St. Augustine’s
Square.
It was a very enjoyable day. As a parent commented: “…
didn’t realize that the PTA took it so seriously in organizing
even a short trip … that there was a “pre-trip” (by PTA Exco)
… and that there were two senior teachers and two tour guides
