Second Parents’ Talk 18 May 2019
For our second seminar, the PTA invited Dr. Agnes Chan ( 陳 美
齡 博 士 ) to share with us on the topic: How do parents equip
themselves to walk alongside their children as they advance to
the next stage of life ( 父 母 如 何 裝 備 自 己 , 陪 伴 孩 子 走 進 另 一 個 人
生 階 段 ). The Primary Division (PD) parents were also invited to
attend this talk.
Sportsmen Dinner 30 May 2019
We celebrated the achievements of the 20 DBS sports teams
in the annual Sportsmen Dinner. It was also an opportunity for
the sportsmen to express their appreciation to the coaches and
teachers. This year, we captured 12 Overall Champions, 6 of
which are Grand Slam. Our sportsmen once again took home
the Champion of the BOCHK Bauhinia Bowl. It was the PTA’s
privileged to share the joy and the fruits of their labour.
PAAT Lunch with Teachers 12 July 2019
The PTA hosted the Parents-Also-Appreciate-Teachers lunch
to thank the teachers for yet another year of dedication and
hard work. As a token of appreciation, the PTA presented
each teacher with a PTA logo toute bag. The recently released
academic achievements of our young gentlemen spoke volumes
of the teachers’ devotion. However, we recognized that the
teachers’ efforts were not only limited to academic teaching,
but also extended to the well-being and life planning of our
young gentlemen.
In fact, this was not the first joint PD and SD Parents’ Seminar.
Back on 26 January, PD PTA invited SD parents to join the seminar
by Professor Joseph Jao-Yiu Sung ( 沈 祖 堯 教 授 ), the title of which
was “This is the Me Me Me Generation”. So, the seminar on 18
May was the third seminar. The SD PTA was delighted that we
can join forces with PD PTA to serve both the SD and PD parents.
Dr. Chan is a well-known singer, but she is also a prolific author
who received a Doctorate degree in Education from Stanford
University and is a mother of three boys who went to her
Alma Mater. There just aren’t too many personalities who
the parents can be fans of for being both a pop singer and an
exemplary parent. The seminar was very well attended, but in
case you missed it, there is actually a summary of the talk by an
enthusiastic parent being circulated in our parent chat groups.
Grade 12 Graduation Dinner 28 June 2019
The Grade 12 students thoughtfully invited the PTA to attend
their Graduation Dinner. This is the 150th graduating class of
DBS. As one of the last class gatherings before these young
gentlemen head off to different countries, different local
universities, they used this opportunity to thank the teachers
and poke fun at each other. It was a great time celebrating
with them, and seeing them lighten up again after two grueling
months of DSE and IB matriculation exams.
Musicians Dinner 5 July 2019
This annual gathering of DBS musicians to celebrate their
success was joined by their mixed choir counterparts from DGS
and Heep Yunn as well as by the Grade 6 musicians and parents
from the Primary Division. The PTA was delighted to support
this dinner and to share in the celebration of yet another year
of excellent results, including 12 Champions and the Best Mixed
Choir of the Year award. Many of the musicians were still busily
rehearsing for the upcoming Europe Orchestra Performance
Tour and the 150th Celebration Concert when they would
perform the full Beethoven Symphony No. 9.
