REPARATION

As by definition, the term ‘reparation’ means “the making amends for wrong” with synonyms such as atonement and renewal following right behind. In many other languages, the term relates to money, repairing simple things such as kitchen appliances, and even as a duty to repair a relationship with someone because of an unkind remark against them. The word itself is even written and spoken the same as it is in the English version in some countries, and what a perfect way to create a universal way to begin a trend of unification and purification. The lifestyle trend book for the Fall and Winter 2014 and 2015 season will consist of themes that will not only address the overall theme, which is “Reparation”, but will further go into detail and tend to the daily life- furniture, fashion, life, and much more. Trends such as Escapism”, “Humble Luxury”, “Purity”, “Inviolability”, and “Reborn and Revived” all consist of detailed information such as exploring spirituality, the beauty of black and white, and growing from within. Reparation is a time for ourselves, but it is also a lifestyle and a trend for the Fall and Winter 2014 and 2015 season.

ESCAPISM

With so much confusion in the world, we are struggling to find
our own identity in the world. Television takes form of human and
dictates who we should be, and magazines become alive as we
stand with barcodes in the check out line. With all the commotion,
it is almost as if we become characters who push the doors to our
own haven and discover serenity. No more struggling and ripping
at the seams. Instead, we chose to quietly break free without
causing any commotion. We float into Tomas Saraceno’s
trampoline, break into unknown paths, explore flying fashion, and
find colors similar to the seas. Welcome to escapism.

HUMBLE LUXURY
A newfound richness of spiritually in our hands has left us with a hunger for our
insides and not necessarily for our materialistic belongings. But our creativity still
wishes that it will catch up with the mind and explore what is deep inside, but not
what was before. A stirring pot of Rena Dumas, Emily Dickinson, and Paulo Coelho
makes for a perfect lifestyle. Imagine baskets, poems of thriving and sometimes
falling, stories of passion of the heart, and text that has the ability to last for
centuries. What a humble life- but it will cost you!

PURITY

The word “purity” no longer consists of just the color white. We live
in a society that if we address the word pure and we think of such a
color, we are considered simple-minded. There are more colors few
and between that strike our eyes that shout something that denote
the sense of pure. However, old photographs and looking at a
different time gives us a sense of “purity”- an escape of the world we
are living in today. Even if we look at the photographs of ourselves
as younger children, we think of how pure we once were and how
innocent we were- when time was not as rough, and we were not as
exposed to so much. Finding yourself in black and white is as pure
as it gets- without a suggestion as to your ethnicity or background.

“Black is modest
and arrogant at the
same time. Black is
lazy and easy
- but mysterious.
But above all black
says this: ‘I don’t
bother youdon’t
bother me.’”
INVIOLABILITY
The most controversial subject has found its way to the trend line.
Spirituality and religion has become something quite fond to others and a
topic that others were enflamed by, especially since the scare of “2012”.
However, that was not necessarily the nudge that needed to move
people towards this direction. A need for a cleanse or even a need
for help is what others were looking for. People are receiving help for
their addictions or other situations they are trapped in, or realizing their
dreams and potentials. People are finding balance of negativity and
positivity; their yin and yang. Pieces of cultures have traveled so far and
we have finally welcomed many new ways of enhancing ourselves. It has
even trickled down in our fashion. What a fashionable way to stay
serene!

REBORN AND REVIVED
Growth, no matter the subject is what we most look forward to. As human
beings, we would look forward to measuring ourselves as children and how
far up we would grow when we were children. We measure our pockets, the
amount of cars, the amount of whatever it may be, but nowadays- we measure
our inner selves. Our inner selves is dying to come out and by saying that, art is
relating to that, fashion, and we express ourselves through that on the streets
and everywhere we go. What we once used to measure no longer matters.
What once was metaphorical is now written on paper and facing you. You are
growing. You are being reborn and you are revived.
