ARASCO participated in Riyadh Environmental Camp<br />
ARASCO has recently participated in the<br />
Riyadh Environmental Camp, organized<br />
by the General Directorate of Agriculture<br />
Affairs in Riyadh at Al Khafas South<br />
Park under the auspices of the Ministry<br />
of Environment, Water and Agriculture.<br />
Slogan of the camp was ,, My environment<br />
is my responsibility ,, . The camp aims<br />
to plant 4 million trees during the next<br />
three years until the year of 2020. The<br />
Director General of the Department of<br />
Agriculture Affairs in Riyadh, Dr. Majid Al-<br />
Faraj praised ARASCO role in supporting<br />
environmental and awareness programs<br />
that highly benefits the community.<br />
He said that (Plant a tree) Camp is an<br />
important occasion for children and<br />
families to recognize the importance of<br />
the tree and its contribution towards<br />
preserving the environment in general.<br />
He also pointed out that a child can<br />
through the experience of the camp,<br />
select one of the templates in his name<br />
and plant a seed and to water it, so that<br />
he can display it within the wing of the<br />
Ministry. This can be done after transfer<br />
all the plantations to the Ministry’s<br />
nursery and distributed to the target<br />
areas in the map of the development of<br />
vegetation cover in the region. The event<br />
was attended by a number of government<br />
agencies, as well as private institutions<br />
and companies, environmental<br />
cooperatives associations and some<br />
green links. The event was attended<br />
by a group of experts, specialists and<br />
environmentalists, along with planting<br />
and cleaning campaigns in Al-Rawda<br />
and neighboring districts, as well as<br />
field awareness campaigns.<br />
US Bongi signs a Memorandum of Understanding with ARASCO<br />
to enter the grain market in the Kingdom<br />
A familiar source (Reuters) declared<br />
that the US Bongi agricultural goods<br />
trading company, is seeking a share of the<br />
country , s grain mills deal after the Saudi<br />
General Organization for Cereal announced<br />
the privatization of this sector recently.<br />
Bongi is the world , s second largest<br />
company that is very interested in entering<br />
the wheat and barley milling market in<br />
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the same<br />
context, Bongi has signed a Memorandum<br />
of Understanding with ARASCO for the<br />
purpose of entering the grain trading<br />
market in the Kingdom, where a delegation<br />
of the company accompanied by the high<br />
profile officials of ARASCO visited the<br />
Grain Silos at Riyadh, Dammam, Al Kharj<br />
and Medina. Previously, an agreement was<br />
signed last March between the American<br />
Archer Daniels Midland for agriculture and<br />
the Saudi Almarai Co. in this regard.<br />
The Saudi Grain Corporation - the world , s<br />
largest buyer of wheat and barley - is<br />
currently prepared to sell the activities of<br />
four of its subsidiaries while retaining other<br />
entities as part of its plan to privatize this<br />
vital sector in the Kingdom.<br />
