the port Lifeboat to put on her the 4 crew that came on<br />
board the "Dansted" and who placed bombs on the steamer<br />
and whilst we were proceeding to the submarine, I saw<br />
explosions on the "Dansted" and she sank. We then proceeded<br />
to a steamer lying stopped and went on board.<br />
I found it was the Greek steamer "Thetis" and we arriveid<br />
safely at Barry Dock 3 pm Frmday 24th. November 1916.<br />
The "Dansted" sank on account of the explosive<br />
bombs being placed on board by the submarine. I saw the<br />
Flag of the submarine, which was a German one. :<br />

Ludvig R. M. Andersen, born at Tjaereborgh, 21st. ;<br />
August 1899, now residing at Frederikshavn, Denmark, ;<br />
Ordinary Seaman on board "Dansted" since February 1916^<br />
Declares: i<br />
At about 6,43 am on the 23rd. November 1916 the \<br />
"Dansted" was stopped by a submarine. Captain procee- ;<br />
ded to the submarine in the port Lifeboat, and I was \<br />
with him. I saw the Commander of the submarine take ;<br />
the papers of the steamer from the Captain, and heard !<br />
him speak in the German Language, but I did not under- \<br />
stand same. I heard two shots fired by the submarine j<br />
to stop. I noticed no flag on the submarine. Four crewj<br />
from the submarine placed bombs on the "Dansted" and |<br />
I saw the "Dansted" blow up and sink.I with other membørs<br />
of the crew went on board the Greek steamer "Thetis"<br />
and we arrived Barry Dock 24th November 1916.<br />

for <strong>og</strong> bekræftede af de mødende.<br />
Kaptajnen forklarede, at Undervandsbaaden havde<br />
tysk Flag, <strong>og</strong> han protesterede mod Sænkningen, som des<br />
uagtet blev beordret af Føreren.<br />
Ladningen bestod af Kul bestemt til Cie. de Charbon<br />
& Briquettes i St. Nazaire.<br />
Der blev saa godt som intet reddet udover Skibsdagb<strong>og</strong>en.<br />
Undervandsbaadens Fører beholdt Skibets Papirer,<br />
Nationalitetscertifikat <strong>og</strong> Folkeliste, Certepar<<br />
ti <strong>og</strong> Konnossement.<br />
Søforhøret sluttet.<br />
