22 APPENDIKS
1. Articulatio humeri.
Scoring of the epiphyses and metaphyses,
and bone areas, of Clavicula, Extremitas
acromialis, Acrominalis, Cavitas glenoidalis
and Humerus, Caput humeri which make
up the shoulder.
Among children and young people the described
lesions will occur at the area between
the metaphysic and epiphysis
75 % of each bone area has to be preserved
for the bone to be registered.
/ The bone is missing, or preserved less than 75 %
1
Normal smooth bone, which have no lesions as described below,
but there may be other lesions related to post-mortem damages
or other pathological conditions.
The lesion evolves through various steps, which can be present
at the same time.
The first step is the presence of an erosive area, which can be
more or less grained. Later the grained area evolved into a cluster
of edgy pits. The fusion of pits will perforate the bone surface
and cause an oval, circular or coalesced shaped hole at the bone
surface, and the trabecular bone will be exposed.
It is important that the edges of the hole and the trabecular
bone are sharp and have the same coloration as the surrounding
bone, or the lesion will be due to post-mortem changes and not
tuberculosis.
Often there will be no reactive bone growth at the lesion, except
for a slight smoothing of the exposed trabecular bone.
Due to the lesions the overall look of the bone may look worn
out, and there can be eburnation at the articular surface at a
young age. The eburnation are not scored, it is only a part of the
general description of the lesions.
After the registration of each of the single bones the registrations are
combined under the title: Shoulder.
If at least three single bones are preserved a “0” is noted, and if just
one of the preserved bones are registered as” 1”, then the Shoulder
also is noted as “1”
