Exterieur beim Fleckvieh:
Conformation with fl eckvieh: breeding for sustainability
Exterieurzuchtwerte von Besamungsbullen sind bekanntlich
wesentliche Selektionskriterien.
Jungbullen liefern. Zum Zeitpunkt der
Zweitbewertung sind die Söhne aus
den gezielten Anpaarungen auf den
Auktionen im Angebot.
Die Erfahrung zeigt, dass sich das Exterieur
unterschiedlich entwickeln kann.
Wenn etwa das Prüfergebnis eines
Stieres eine knapp überdurchschnittliche
Eutervererbung ausgewiesen hat,
ist die weitere Entwicklung sicherlich
noch mit Fragezeichen behaftet. Dabei
gibt es durchaus Fälle, in denen
sich die Euter auch bei mittelmäßiger
Erstbewertung nach drei Abkalbungen
als absolut haltbar erwiesen haben. Natürlich
kann auch der umgekehrte Fall
eintreten. Solche Informationen bringen
eine wertvolle Selektionshilfe beim
Ankauf der nächsten Bullengeneration.
Auswertungen zeigen, dass die Korrelation
zwischen Verbleiberate der Töchter und
Nutzungsdauer-Zuchtwert des Bullen bei
0.6 liegt.
DARSTELLUNG
Sire proofs for conformation are essential selection
criteria, as everybody knows. It’s a biological fact that
a bull’s progeny will develop and become more varied as
they mature. at’s why a second conformation assessment
on third-calvers has been introduced in Bavaria.
It has now become a central tool for the Fleckvieh
industry.
Analyses show, that there is a correlation
of around 0.6 between the survival
rate of a bull´s daughters and his proof
for productive life.
Since 2004, classifi ers in Bavaria
do a methodical second assessment
on third-calvers to provide
breeding organizations with decision-supportcision-support
for their Fleckvieh
programs. Within the scope of
that assessment, assessment, a second linear
description is done on all surviving
fi rst-crop daughters of of sires that
have been used in the breeding
program. The results are supposed
to provide especially especially the the AIs with
information for the purchase of of
young young bulls. At the the time of the second
assessment, assessment, the sons having
resulted from selective matings
are consigned consigned to auction auction sales.
Experience shows that conforma-
tion can change as the animal develops.
So, if the the fi rst-crop rst-crop information
on a sire sire has shown a slightly
above-average transmitting transmitting ability
for udders, udders, then there there certainly is
a question mark mark behind the further
development. development. However, However, there
defi nitely nitely are cases where the udders
of third-calvers turned out to
be absolutely durable even after
a moderate fi rst-assessment. Of
course the contrary can arise as
well. This kind of information is a
valuable selection aid for the purchase
of the next generation of
bulls.
PRESENTATION
The results of the second assessment are being compared with
the results of the young-cow assessment, with the deviation in
the major traits being quoted. So, if the sire Solo shows +.82 for
