Prototyping within the
POLYTEC GROUP
Flexibility is an important element
within the entire POLYTeC GROUP
and has always played a central role
in our CAR STYLING business unit.
Independence from external service
providers and suppliers brings about
a number of advantages in terms of
reaction speed and time-to-market,
delivering the best for our customers.
We can rely and build upon in-house
model and mold construction sites,
paint plants and development units as
well as our own prototype divisions,
where fiberglass reinforced plastic
(FRP), clay, PUR and milled prototypes
were produced in the past.
The recent expansion of the POLY-
TeC GROUP’s prototyping capacity
demonstrates that the company
will consistently continue along this
independent path. In the second half of
2012, a FdM (fused deposition modeling)
system was put into operation at
POLYTeC CAR STYLING hÖRSChING,
which allows for rapid prototyping.
Thanks to this new FdM facility, all
the Group’s production plants are now
able to create ABS prototypes over the
short term and deploy them either as
design or functional prototypes after
they have been processed.
The FdM technology works by means
of computer-controlled extrusion
nozzles, which are heated to first
melt and then deposit the liquefied
thermoplastic material on a movable
platform, laying down one layer at
a time. Once the molten material
Before starting the FdM-Process the CAd data of the parts will be processed and sent to
the facility.
Vor dem Start des FdM-Prozesses werden die Teile-CAd-daten aufbereitet und an die
Anlage gesendet.
has been extruded from the nozzle
to form a layer as fine as 0.25 mm
thick, the movable platform is lowered
down before the next layer is
deposited.
At the end of this additive manufacturing
process, the part is unloaded
and the disposable support structure is
manually removed or washed out. Big
prototyping parts can be produced in
several sections and joined together
in a second step.
In the start-up phase of the FdM
system, several prototypes were
created for both internal processes
and customer projects in a number
of production plants.
We are ready, waiting and have the
technical know-how and capacity
to start new projects – please do
get in touch.
Prototyping in der
POLYTEC GROUP
Flexibilität ist eine bedeutende eigenschaft
der gesamten POLYTeC
GROUP. Speziell in unserer CAR
STYLING Business Unit spielt sie seit
jeher eine zentrale Rolle. Unabhängigkeit
von externen dienstleistern
und Lieferanten bringt Vorteile in
Bezug auf Reaktionszeiten und
dient somit unseren Kunden. es
stehen konzerninterne Werkzeugbaustandorte,
Lackieranlagen und
entwicklungs abteilungen sowie
eigene Proto typenbauabteilungen
zur Verfügung. In
der Vergangenheit wurden
dort GFK-, Clay-, PUR- und
Fräsprototypen gefertigt.
dass dieser Weg auch weiter-
hin konsequent gegangen
wird, zeigt sich an der kürzlichen
erweiterung unserer
Prototyping-Möglichkeiten.
Im zweiten halbjahr 2012 wurde
bei POLYTeC CAR STYLING
hÖRSChING eine FdM-Anlage
in Betrieb genommen, die allen
Konzern-Standorten ermöglicht,
kurzfristig ABS-Prototypen zu
erstellen. diese können nach
entsprechender Bearbeitung
als design- oder auch als Funktionsprototypen
verwendet
werden.
die FdM-Technologie selbst
funktioniert mittels computergesteuerter
extrusionsdüsen,
welche Thermoplastwerkstoffe
in erhitztem, flüssigem Zustand
auf eine ebene auftragen. Nach
Fertigstellung einer 0,25 mm
dicken Schicht wird der Trägerschlitten
abgesenkt und die
nächste Schicht aufgetragen.
Zum Schluss wird der Bauteil
entnommen und die Stützgeometrie
manuell entfernt
bzw. ausgewaschen. Große Teile
werden mehrteilig gebaut und zusammengefügt.
Bereits in der Anlaufphase wurden
Prototypen für verschiedene interne
sowie Kundenprojekte für die einzelnen
Standorte erstellt.
Gerne stehen wir auch für Ihr Projekt
zur Verfügung.
facility completes the part within a few hours.
Vollautomatisch bringt die Anlage Schicht-für-
Bauteil fertiggestellt.
