EULAR Kongress 2012 im Messe-Südgelände
// EULAR Congress 2012 at the Messe’s Congress Area South
65 Jahre nach Gründung der European League against Rheumatism findet der
EULAR Kongress 2012 erneut in der Hauptstadt statt – zum ersten Mal allerdings
auf dem Südgelände der Messe Berlin. Vom 6. bis 9. Juni werden hier
Ärzte, Patienten, Therapeuten, Wissenschaftler, Gesundheitspersonal sowie
Vertreter der Pharmaindustrie aus der ganzen Welt zusammenkommen, um
wissenschaftliche und klinische Informationen auszutauschen. Erwartet werden
rund 18.000 Teilnehmer. Für den nahe gelegenen Großflughafen Berlin Brandenburg,
der Anfang Juni 2012 eröffnet werden soll, ist der EULAR Kongress somit
der erste große „Stresstest“. // 65 years after the founding of the European
League against Rheumatism, the EULAR Congress 2012 will get underway again
in the capital from 6 to 9 June 2012. The congress is expected to attract roughly
18,000 doctors, patients, therapists, scientists, health care personnel and pharmaceutical
industry representatives from all over the world and will take place for
the first time at Messe Berlin’s Congress Area South. The EULAR will be the first
“stress test” for the nearby Berlin Brandenburg International Airport, which is
scheduled to open at the beginning of June 2012.

ADAC-Reisemonitor 2011: lieber aktiv als

Im Urlaub wollen die Deutschen lieber Neues erleben
als sich am Strand auszuruhen. Zu diesem Ergebnis
kommt der aktuelle "ADAC Reisemonitor" auf Basis einer
Befragung von 4.000 ADAC-Mitgliedern. Auch interessant:
Fast jeden zweiten Urlaub in der Ferne buchen die
Deutschen als Rundreise. Insgesamt wächst der Kreuzfahrtmarkt
am stärksten – um rund 95 Prozent seit 2002.
Auch Städtereisen werden immer beliebter, seit 2000
stieg die Zahl der Buchungen um mehr als die Hälfte an.
Die repräsentative Trendstudie zum Reiseverhalten der
Deutschen stellt der ADAC einmal im Jahr im Rahmen
der ITB in Berlin vor. // According to the recent "ADAC
Reisemonitor” survey of 4,000 ADAC members, German
vacationers are more interested in experiencing new
things than just relaxing on the beach. The survey also
found that almost one in two Germans booked a “tour”
when vacationing abroad. Cruises were the highest
growing segment – rising roughly 95 percent since 2002.
City tours are also becoming more popular, with the
number of bookings growing by more than a half since
2000. The ADAC presents its annual study on travel behaviour
each year at the ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin.

Vom 18. bis 20. Juni 2012 trifft sich die Kongress-,
Tagungs-, Incentive- und Eventbranche erstmalig zu
einem gemeinsamen Hauptstadtkongress. Organisatoren
der zentralen Branchenveranstaltung im ICC Berlin sind
das German Convention Bureau e.V. (GCB) und der
Europäische Verband der Veranstaltungs-Centren e. V.
(EVVC). Herzstück der dreitägigen Veranstaltung ist ein
Fachkongress am 20. Juni 2012 mit Vertretern aus Politik
und Wirtschaft. Der Kongress soll ab 2012 alle zwei Jahre
vom Team des ICC Berlin organisiert werden. // From 18
to 20 June 2012 the MICE (Meeting, Incentives, Conventions
and Events) industry will gather for the first time at a
joint capital city congress. The organisers of this key event
at ICC Berlin are the German Convention Bureau (GCB)
and the European Association of Event Centres (EVVC).
At the heart of the three-day event is a congress on
20 June 2012 with political and business representatives.
Starting in 2012, the congress will be organised
every two years by the team at ICC Berlin.

Country at the 2012 International Green Week
Offizielles Partnerland der Internationalen Grünen Woche ist im
kommenden Jahr Rumänien. Die Republik am Schwarzen Meer
beteiligt sich bereits seit 1973 an der weltgrößten Verbraucherschau
für Landwirtschaft, Ernährung und Gartenbau. Die Partnerrolle
bringe seinem Land „gewaltige Vorteile“, so der rumänische
Landwirtschaftsminister Valeriu Tabara. Er bezeichnete Deutschland
als Rumäniens wichtigsten Handelspartner, viele deutsche Unternehmen
investierten vor Ort. Agrarbetriebe erwirtschaften rund
zwölf Prozent des rumänischen Bruttoinlandsprodukts.
// Rumania will be next year’s official partner country at the
International Green Week in Berlin. The country has been taking
part in the world’s largest consumer show for food, agricultural and
horticulture since 1973 and, as agricultural minister Valeriu Tabara
notes, is set to gain “major advantages” from its partner status in
2012. Germany is Rumania’s most important trade partner and
many German companies invest in Rumania. Agricultural operations
generate 12 per cent of Rumania’s GDP.

Das für den 30. September bis 2. Oktober 2011
geplante Berliner art forum findet nicht statt. Wie die
Messe Berlin Ende Mai bekannt gab, wird sie sich damit
zunächst aus dem Kunstmessegeschäft zurückziehen.
Zuvor waren mehrwöchige Verhandlungen zwischen
dem art forum berlin und der von den Berliner Galerien
(a-z GBR) veranstalteten(art berlin contamporary über
einen Zusammenschluss beider Veranstaltungen „wegen
abweichender Vorstellungen über die Aufgabenteilung“
gescheitert. Die Messe Berlin hatte das art forum seit
1996 auf Bitten bedeutender Galeristen unter hohem
Ressourceneinsatz organisiert und das wirtschaftliche
Risiko getragen. // The art forum berlin scheduled to
take place from 30 September to 2 October 2011 has
been cancelled. In May, Messe Berlin cited a lack of
support as the reason for its decision to withdraw from
the fair. Negotiations between the art forum berlin and
the abc art berlin contemporary regarding a merging of
the two events failed due to “divergent understandings
of the allocation of tasks and responsibilities”. Messe
Berlin had organised the art forum since 1996 and in
that time had invested a large amount of resources
and carried the economic risk.
