1. Operating instructions
The installation and use of electrical appliances must be carried out with due caution in order to avoid the risk
of fire, electric shock or injury. The equipment must only be used as described in these instructions. Any use
outside of the manufacturer recommendations could lead to damage, fire, shock or injury.
Before using the appliance the instructions should be read in their entirety and all appropriate handling of the
equipment must be observed.
These instructions should be kept safely and passed on to any future owner.
In the event of any repair work, hand them to the qualified installer for his attention.
1.1 Unit description
The SK 04 (T) is suitable for heating rooms that are used infrequently, or to supplement an existing heating
system. These units can be used as mobile free-standing units with the feet fitted, or alternatively as wall hanging
units.
The SK 04 (T) is supplied complete with a connecting cable.
Only remove the packaging of the unit and accessories at the place of installation, taking note of the additional
package.
When unpacking, take care to ensure that no accessories remain behind in the packaging material.
Range of use
The use of the heater in bathrooms or similar damp environments is not permitted. The heater should not be
used outdoors.
The heat requirement of the room should be matched to the heat output of the unit. In very small rooms there is
a risk of overheating, damage and fire.
As a free standing appliance it can easily be used wherever heat is required (when used as a mobile free standing
unit both feet must be fitted before switching on). The connection cable should not be covered with a
carpet or mat, and should lie outside any ‘traffic area’ where it could be caught and the heater overturned.
To prevent a tensed connecting cable (danger of stumble) do not position the appliance too distant from the
shockproof socket.
The use of an extension lead should be avoided. If an extension lead is used it should be of sufficient cable size
for the full rating power of the heater. It should have a moulded plug and socket and sufficient preventative
measures should be taken when using it.
The equipment should always stand on a solid floor, on soft ground the appliance can tilt or the air grilles
could be blocked.
When transporting the appliance it should be held only by the recessed grips provided for this purpose (5), under
no circumstances should it be carried by the mains electrical cable.
Function
To heat the air, ambient air entering the unit through the openings in the base of the unit is heated, this then
flows out by means of natural convection, via the air outlet grille (3) at the top.
In the case of the SK 04 (T), this process can be assisted by using the integral fan to push heat out through
the separate outlet grille (4).
1.2 Operation
The operating controls are located within the right hand side section of the unit.
Using the thermostat knob (1), the desired room temperature can be selected between approximately 5 °C and
35 °C.
The thermostat within the unit then keeps the ambient air constantly at this set value, by cycling the heating
on and off for short periods.
Using the switches (2), several different heat output levels can be selected (see following table). This gives increased
economy by adapting to the prevailing heat requirement.
