MozartS KLaVIerSonaten Mozart’S PIano SonataS
„Mozart ist ein Prüfstein des herzens. wenn ich jemandem etwas besonders Liebes antun
möchte, setze ich mich ans Klavier und spiele ihm ein Stück von Mozart“, bekannte einst der
Pianist edwin Fischer. und sein Kollege Paul badura-Skoda, der gemeinsam mit seiner Frau
eva die Klaviersonaten Mozarts im urtext herausgegeben hat, sekundiert: „Mozarts tiefgründigkeit
... ist unbegreiflich ... Man kann von diesem Geheimnis Mozart nur in Metaphern sprechen.
Seine Sonaten schauen uns an wie der blick eines Kindes, unergründlich, unauslotbar. es ergeht
uns mit ihnen ähnlich wie mit einem Goethe-Gedicht: es ist einfach da, und man kann
kaum fassen, dass es je einmal nicht existiert hat. Die Spontaneität und scheinbare Leichtigkeit
von Mozarts Schaffen hat Generationen von Musikfreunden zu der Irrmeinung verführt,
Mozart hätte ohne anstrengung komponiert, ‚wie ein Vogel singt‘. In wirklichkeit steckt hinter
dieser Schöpfung ein unendlich mühsamer, unermüdlicher Lern- und arbeitsprozess.“ Diese
großartige entwicklung kompakt nachzuvollziehen, zu überblicken und die werke dabei doch
gleichzeitig von zwei verschiedenen Seiten zu betrachten, das macht die Mozartwoche möglich:
Fazil Say und Kristian bezuidenhout interpretieren zusammen genommen alle Klaviersonaten
Mozarts – der türkische Pianist am modernen Konzertflügel, sein in Südafrika geborener Kollege
am hammerklavier. Liebenswürdiger tiefsinn, spontane Leichtigkeit – und dann und wann
herber Schmerz: Facetten eines Künstlerlebens.
Pianist edwin Fischer once said: “Mozart is a touchstone of the heart. If I want to do something
really nice for someone, I sit down at the piano and play him a piece by Mozart.” his
colleague Paul badura-Skoda, who collaborated with his wife eva on an urtext edition of Mozart’s
piano sonatas, echoes this: “Mozart’s depth of thought and feeling is beyond comprehension.
the mystery of Mozart can be spoken of only through metaphors. his sonatas meet our eyes
with the gaze of a child – unfathomable; the feeling they give us is like that evoked by a Goethe
poem: it is simply there, and we can hardly believe that there was a time when it didn’t exist.
the spontaneity and apparent ease of Mozart’s work has misled generations of music-lovers
to believe, mistakenly, that he composed without effort, as a bird sings. In fact, there lies behind
this act of creation an infinitely laborious, tireless work and learning process.” the Mozart
week enables us to retrace and to overview this fantastic development, at the same time considering
the works from two different aspects: Fazil Say and Kristian bezuidenhout share performance
of the complete Mozart piano sonatas – the turkish pianist on a modern grand
piano, his South african colleague on the hammerklavier. charming profundity, spontaneous
ease – with the occasional stab of pain: facets of an artist’s life.
