(RSA)In this hands-on workshop participants will be allowed the opportunity to explore, reconnectand re-member their inner caring self through engaging in creative expressivearts therapy. Vicarious trauma is a reality for professionals providing service to thosewith problem-saturated stories. Using imagery, expression through words as well asmovement and sound the opportunity will be allowed to create a narrative of the caringself. Participants will be exposed to the potential of creative expressive art therapymerged with narrative and ego-state therapy in the healing process, especially inactivating the caring healer insi<strong>de</strong>. No artistic ability is required for us to enjoy thepleasure of expression and connecting with our creative energy. At the end of theworkshop, participants would have been exposed to the theory un<strong>de</strong>rlying creativeexpressive art and narrative therapy and how it can be utilised in ego-state therapy,explored creative expressive art therapy modalities and been provi<strong>de</strong>d with a safe spaceto explore the caring healer insi<strong>de</strong>.A case study exploring the experiences of Educational Psychologists utilising Ego StateTherapy to address dissociation in adolescentsCo-Presenter: Jenny da Silva, B.Ed, HonsAbstract: This qualitative study proposes to explore the experiences of educationalpsychologists who utilize ego-state therapy in their practices with adolescents whoexperience dissociation. It is the un<strong>de</strong>rstanding of this research study that dissociation isone of the primary symptoms to <strong>de</strong>velop after a traumatic event and if left to continue,could result in various emotional and behavioural difficulties, influencing the adolescenton all levels of functioning. Ego-state therapy is a therapeutic intervention strategy usefulwith adolescents, facilitating healing that has occurred due to the fragmentation thatadolescents and children experience after a traumatic event. The intention of this casestudy is to investigate the experience of educational psychologists who utilize ego-statetherapy in their practices as a therapeutic strategy. This case study explores theparticipants’ personal experiences with ego-state therapy in addressing dissociation andis thus qualitative in nature. From a phenomenological perspective, this case study aimsto explore educational psychologists’ experiences regarding ego-state therapy. Theparticipants are educational psychologists, irrespective of age and gen<strong>de</strong>r, who use egostatetherapy in their practices. The findings of this research will be presented during theworkshop.23
