Complete in <strong>12</strong> volumes, only in 1936 there was published a [13th] supplementary volume. - Sir James George Frazer<br />
(1854-1941), Scottish anthropologist and religious scholar, who, through his research, contributed significantly to the<br />
recognition of ethnology as a science. Essential is his conclusion that the evolution of the human mind is based on the<br />
chronolgy "magic-religion-science". Contrary to this evolutionist view his detailed studies of mythology are valued as<br />
sources still today. H. P. Lovecraft mentions in some of his stories Frazer’s current major work (in German "Der Goldene<br />
Zweig") to reinforce his own horror myths. - All covers a bit knocked, rubbed and slightly spotted; rounded edges with small<br />
tears; spine of two volumes little bit damaged; preliminary pages with owner’s stamp; leaves cut out, else good copies.<br />
