Im Rahmen einer weltweit rasant fortschreitenden Urbanisierung müssen
insbesondere die informellen Siedlungen in den Städten des globalen
Südens ins Zentrum unserer Aufmerksamkeit rücken. Denn ein Großteil der
zukünftigen Stadtbewohner wird sich in diesen ungeplanten Erweiterungen
urbaner Zentren niederlassen. Instrumente und Methoden klassischer Stadtplanung
stehen diesem Phänomen bislang ratlos gegenüber. Neue Ansätze
sind gefragt, die Top-Down-Planung und Bottom-Up-Initiativen miteinander
verknüpfen, um nachhaltige und zukunftsfähige Lebensräume zu gestalten.
Das Moravia Manifesto präsentiert alternative Planungsansätze eines internationalen
Think-and-Do-Tanks, die gemeinsam mit lokalen Akteuren der
informellen Siedlung Moravia im Herzen der kolumbianischen Metropole
Medellín entwickelt wurden. Dieser neue Planungsansatz, Urban Coding,
wird durch Essays und internationale Case Studies kontextualisiert. Er zeigt
neue Wege auf, wie Planung, Politik, Wirtschaft und Verwaltung in Koproduktion
mit lokalen Communities innovative und inklusive urbane Transformationsprozesse
anstoßen und umsetzen können.

Medellín es conocida como la ciudad de la eterna
primavera. Su vegetación abundante y su clima tropical
ofrecen condiciones ideales para el uso de
tecnologías innovadoras y recursos naturales como
la energía solar, aguas pluvia les, energía eólica, y
materiales alternativos de construcción como la
guadua (bambú). La activación de estos potenciales
naturales inexplorados ofrece grandes posibilidades
a nivel de la vivienda y de la vecindad para
convertir a Moravia en un barrio auto suficiente, un
verde prototipo urbano informal.
Medellín is known as the city of eternal spring. Its
abundant vegetation and tropical climate offer
ideal conditions for the use of innovative technologies
and natural resources, such as solar energy,
rainwater utilization, wind power and alternative
building materials like bamboo. Unlocking
these unexploited natural potentials at the neighborhood
and household scales offers great
opportunities to transform Moravia into a self-sustaining,
resilient neighborhood and green
informal prototype.
La falta de conciencia alimentaria y los resultantes
problemas de salud constituyen importantes desafíos
para Moravia. El clima tropical brinda condiciones
excelentes para la producción local de alimentos;
por esta razón, la implementación de la
agricultu ra urbana en las casas y a través de la vecindad,
tiene que formar parte integral de la planeación
futura, combinando programas productivos,
educativos y culturales. De esta manera, crean espacios
de interacción social y oportunidades de empleo
en ciclos autosuficientes, y se genera conciencia
sobre la alimentación saludable y sus beneficios
a largo plazo. Moravia tiene el potencial para llegar
a ser pionero entre los barrios informales verdes y
saludables en Colombia.
A lack of awareness about nutrition and the resulting
health issues constitute important challenges
for Moravia. At the same time, the tropical climate
provides excellent conditions for local food production.
The implementation of urban agriculture
at the neighborhood and household scales
should therefore become an integral part of future
planning, combining productive, educational,
and cultural programs. This opens up possibilities
to generate social spaces of interaction and job
opportunities in self-sufficient life cycles, and to
raise awareness about healthy nutrition and its
long-term benefits. Moravia has the potential to
become a pioneer for green and healthy informal
neighborhoods.
