A world without plastic packaging
is hard to imagine.
The largest portion of the plastic
packaging i.e. cups, bowls, trays
or blisters is employed in both
food- and non-food fields.
The production of this packaging
material is performed by thermoforming
also known as deepdrawing
or warm forming. This
means a forming process of
Kunststoffabfälle granulieren
Granulation of Plastic Waste
normally thermoplastic semifinished
products that are
converted into a thermoplastic
condition by means of heat. By
applying, in most cases, minor
force, which can be mechanical,
pneumatic and sometimes
hydraulic, the desired product is
formed.
During this process, waste
normally occurs in the form of
skeletons and start-up film waste
that must be size reduced in-line
and directly reintroduced into the
production process.
PALLMANN has designed and
manufactured the in-line knife
mills, series T, for the size reduction
of this type of waste in close
cooperation with well-known
manufacturers of the packaging
industry.
The start-up film waste and/or
skeletons are directly fed into the
knife mill via a draw-in device
whereby an upstream reversing
system transforms the advance
cycle of the thermoform-line into
a continuous feeding. The drawin
speed and the revolutions of
the knife mill are coordinated in
such a way that the development
of splinters is reliably prevented
and therewith a conveyable and
optimum grinding material for
direct reuse is produced. The
granule is pneumatically vacuumed
and transported to further
processing steps.
The compact design and easy
accessibility for cleaning, material
exchange and maintenance are
the outstanding characteristics of
the series T.
