A | Ein einfacher nicht biologischer elektrischer Kreislauf. Drähte verbinden eine Batterie (V) mit<br />
einem Wi<strong>der</strong>stand (R). Negativ geladene Elektronen bilden den Strom (I, Pfeile), <strong>der</strong> durch den<br />
Draht fließt. Das Verhältnis zwischen <strong>der</strong> Spannungsdifferenz am Wi<strong>der</strong>stand und dem durch den<br />
Wi<strong>der</strong>stand fließenden Strom ist nach dem Ohm’schen Gesetz <strong>der</strong> Wi<strong>der</strong>stand R = U/I.<br />
B | In einem Ionen transportierenden Epithelium stellt die transepitheliale Potentialdifferenz eine<br />
„Haut-Batterie” (V) dar. In biologischen Systemen bilden geladene Ionen wie Na + und Cl – den<br />
Strom. Eine Verletzung des Epitheliums führt zu einer Region mit geringem Wi<strong>der</strong>stand, über die<br />
Ionen die Wunde verlassen. Der Wi<strong>der</strong>stand <strong>der</strong> Wunde (Rw) ist variabel. Rw ist größer, wenn<br />
die Wunde austrocknen kann, als wenn sie mit einem Feuchtverband versehen ist.<br />
