Weingut am Chillesteig Winery on Chillesteig
Im Verlauf des letzten Jahrhunderts ist aus dem landwirtschaftlich
geprägten Dorf Höngg ein beliebtes Wohnquartier
der Stadt Zürich geworden, in dem das Bild
vom Rebbauerndorf allerdings nach wie vor eine prägende
Rolle spielt.
Der Chillesteig ist daher ein identitätsstiftender Ort
für das Quartier. Mit dem Entwurf einer Kellerei soll
er vom reinen Rebberg zum eigentlichen Weingut werden.
Die Auseinandersetzung mit dem natürlichen und dem
gebauten Kontext bildet dabei den einen Schwerpunkt
der Entwurfsaufgabe. Die andere Fragestellung betrifft
die innere Organisation und die Schaffung einer stimmungsvollen
Atmosphäre.

The rural village of Höngg has, within the last century,
evolved into a popular suburb of the city of Zurich.
All these changes notwithstanding, the original image of
a wine-making region perseveres as a predominant
characteristic.
Chillesteig is therefore a major source of identity
for the area. The addition of a winery aims to promote
the purely agricultural plot of land to a center for
the production and promotion of wine. A central focus
of the design is to reflect on the natural and manmade
contexts. The building’s inner organization and
the architectural means to achieve a setting appropriate
to the program and to the site are further relevant
questions.
