Chip Miller
was known
worldwide for his
resilient positive
attitude, his passion
for Corvettes,
his tremendous
personal Corvette
collection and
for creating the
grandest Corvette
event anywhere
on the planet –
Corvettes at Carlisle.
In December
2003, Chip was
diagnosed with a
little-known disease
called Amyloidosis.
Sadly,
Chip lived by the mantra:
Life is Good
due to complications from the Amyloidosis, the world
lost an incredibly special human being on March 25,
2004. Had Chip and his doctors been aware of the
symptoms of the disease when they fi rst presented,
this legend might still be with us today.
Amyloidosis occurs when enough abnormal protein,
called amyloid, builds up in one or more organs
to cause a malfunction. As an abnormal protein, amyloid
originates in bone marrow. The heart, kidneys,
nervous system and gastrointestinal tract are most
often aff ected by the disease.
Signs and symptoms of Amyloidosis depend on the
organs aff ected. The wide range of symptoms makes it
diffi cult to diagnose.
The mission of the Chip Miller Charitable Foundation
is to empower people with the knowledge and
understanding of Amyloidosis for earlier detection,
ensuring a better quality of life for those affl icted with
the disease and to help science fi nd the cures.
The Chip Miller Charitable Foundation
will be set up in the Corvette America
Hospitality Tent throughout the
weekend — see schedule for hours —
with merchandise for sale. All sales benefi t
the Foundation.
There are a few items in a Silent Auction as
well. Be sure to stop by and place your bid.
During the 2011 Corvettes at Carlisle, GM arrived
with a Carlisle Blue Grand Sport Coupe Tribute Corvette.
Corvettes at Carlisle’s good friend and longtime
vendor, Don Theune of Scale Visions, knew exactly
what he wanted to create for his 2012 contribution
to the CMCF. However, there was a problem — there
are no C6 Grand Sport base kit models available in any
scale anywhere! Don welcomed the challenge and
created both Grand Sports Coupe & Convertibles C6
body styles.
Don’s generous donation for the 2012 Carlisle Blue
Model Car Giveaway will be a 1/25-scale exact replica
of the 2012 Carlisle Blue Tribute Grand Sport and is
only one of two created. He will donate the second to
the National Corvette Museum in honor of Chip Miller.
Sign up for your chance to win this incredible piece
of Corvettes at Carlisle history! Tickets are available at
the CMCF table located in the Corvette America Hospitality
tent, the Scale Visions display Bldg T spaces
10 & 11 or the Guest Services Building. Winner will be
drawn Sunday during the Awards Presentation. There
is no cost to register for your chance to win; however,
donations are welcome! All donations will go to the
Chip Miller Charitable Foundation.
Congratulations to the 2011 winners, Bob & Ruth
Davis of Mars, Pa — 30-year Corvettes at Carlisle attendees!
Scale Visions has been creating exact model replicas
of Corvettes for more than 21 years. Their works
of automotive artistry are so realistic and lifelike that
it is often diffi cult to discern the diff erence between
photos of the original Corvette and its 1/25-cale
counterpart. Scale Visions is taking the 30th Year of
Corvettes at Carlisle honor a few steps further by announcing
that they will be creating only 30 units of
each body style, in Carlisle Blue. Thirty units of each
body style worldwide will be going fast. A mini-cover
of this program/directory will be shown in the interior,
and the rear plate reads ”CHIP 30th.” For more information
on securing your own piece of both Corvette
and Corvettes at Carlisle history, or to have an exact
model replica of your desired Corvette (past/present),
contact Scale Visions. It’s without a doubt the perfect
gift for the person in your life who has everything!
