Welcome to the 31st annual Corvettes at Carlisle.
We’re thrilled you are here with us this weekend.
We realize many of our supporters have made Corvettes
at Carlisle a tradition to attend each year, and on behalf
of the Carlisle Events team, we are incredibly grateful!
During your visit, be sure to check out my favorite
part of the event (in addition to all the people!) — the
vendors! I’ve said it each year and I’ll say it again…
the vendors are the heartbeat of our organization,
and we’re proud to host an extremely large and diverse
vendor base during each of our many events.
So please take some time out of your day and venture
down to see what Corvette items you might need.
I also recommend checking out all of the incredible
displays such as Chip’s Choice in Building T, the NCRS
Gallery by Gate 1, NCCC Judged Showfi eld, Manufacturer’s
Midway, FREE Seminars, the 50th Anniversary
Display and much more. I don’t want to over-stimulate
you, but it’s our job to do just that!
Our small but very effi cient and eff ective team consists
of 25 full-time employees and during the actual
event, we host upwards of 200 staff members. We do
our very best to ensure your visit is the fi nest it can
be. Although it can be challenging during peak hours
of the event, we continually strive to do the best job
we can. I can tell you fi rsthand, and am proud to do
so, that our team is the best in the business. Our team
continually strives to outdo themselves over and over
each season; hence we’re proud of our events and the
way they are executed. We ask that you take a few minutes
to provide us with feedback you feel would help
us improve; we take each suggestion seriously and appreciate
you helping us be the best we can be. Just go

’63 SPLIT WINDOW — WE MISS HER
There is no better known car in the American collector
car world than the Chevrolet Corvette. Since
1953, it’s been GM’s fl agship model, off ering performance,
style and reliability in a two-seat package. If
you’re a lover of all things Corvette — from the fi rst
Blue Flame Six cars through the most recent supercharged
ZR1 — you’re in luck, because they’re all here
at Corvettes at Carlisle this weekend.
Everyone has a Corvette story to tell. Mine started
with working on fi rst-, second-, and third-gen ’Vettes
when I was a mechanic at a small shop that focused
on classic cars. I loved fi xing them, as most of the time
the only issues that popped up were simple to repair.
But it wasn’t until I came to Sports Car Market in 2006
— American Car Collector’s sister publication — that I
got any signifi cant wheel time in one.
The magazine’s car was a Sebring Silver 1963 Split
Window. It had a 327/300 and a 4-speed and was in
decent driver condition, and I found pretty much any
excuse I could take it out. That car was pretty quick
and generally comfortable, but I thought it was a great
driver mostly because of the attention it drew from everyone
else out on the road. And at their core, that’s
really what Corvettes do best.
Every Corvette ever built has been considered special
by someone. Nobody ever bought one thinking
it was “just a Corvette.” These cars have always been
awesome performers, reliable drivers, and just a lot of
fun — even the six-cylinder cars. And today, owing to
their legendary status both on the roads of America
and in international sports car competition, Corvettes
are some of the best investments in old cars.
