Updating arrangements
8 Therewillbe regular discussionsbetweenHSE, the ADC and other
parties in the industry to discuss the currentapplicability ofthe Code.When
technology, industry standards or practices change, consideration will begiven
to amending the Code.All amendments will be the subject offormal public
consultation.
The other divingCodes
9 Thereare four other Codes coveringdiving at work:
(a) Commercial divingprojects offshore (ISBN0 7176 1494 8);
(b) Media diving projects (ISBN 0 7176 1497 2);
(c) Recreational diving projects (ISBN0 7176 1496 4); and
(d) Scientificand archaeologicaldiving projects (ISBN0 7176 1498 0).
10 Eachof these Codeshas been drafted by HSE with the help of the
industry associations for the relevant sector andcovers standards and practices
that are relevant to thatsector'sparticulararea ofdiving.

11 The Codes do not cover the detailed technical aspects ofcontrolling the
risks from diving at work. Guidancepublished by HSE provides detailed
technical advice on assessing and minimisirigthe risks. Details can be obtained
from HSE.
12 Guidance is also published bythe ADC,the International Marine
Contractors Association (IMCA) (and its predecessor the Association of
Offshore Diving Contractors (AODC)) andthe Diving Medical Advisory
Committee (DMAC). A list givingdetails ofthis guidance is set out in
Annex 5. You shouldcheck that the list is still current.

relevant industry technical guidance is listedin Annex 5. This doesnot mean,
however, that the industry guidance has the legal statusof anApproved Code
ofPractice.
