situations that technical men experienced prior to becoming advocates for technical women. A practical research-based brochure outlining the top
10 ways men can become advocates will also help attendees enlist more men into gender advocacy efforts, as it offers tips to well-meaning men
about how to recruit or retain technical women in their organizations.

witnessing a rise in female participation in the ICT sector; however this rise remains modest and varies from one country to another. This panel
will explore the status of ICT sector in the region, opportunities, and challenges facing Arab technical women. It will also share the personal
experiences of technical Arab women who experienced TechWomen 2011, participated in GHC2011 and received its TechWomen Change Agent
Scholars Award.

hang of real-world software engineering: identifying the right job, negotiating salaries, surviving office politics, and professional networking.

(Bowie State University) Abstract: Enrollment of women in CS programs has risen, but the percentage of minority students has not increased.
Research shows students form opinions about science or non-science subjects as early as middle school and make college course selections
based on their interests. This panel is for anyone interested in increasing the representation of women of color in CS and shaping how CS
engages girls and women of color during K-12.
