6 Rotary Club of Makati, Inc. 26-member ...................from page 1 for the 9 Sister Clubs (7 from Japan, 1 from Korea, and ours) who together made up a guest list of about 120. They had prepared a program for their guests from far and near. There was golf on the 4 th though only PDG Sid was able to squeeze in time for a round on the fairway, and a concert at the Chung Li Art Center’s concert hall in the afternoon of the 5 th , attended by PDG Sid Garcia & Ann Tesha, PP Cesar Campos, Freddie Garcia & Ann Glo, Johnson Tan & Ann Eleanor and family, PP Sonny Tambunting & Ann Terry and family, and PE Reuben Valerio. From the concert they moved to the Monarch Plaza Hotel for the welcome dinner for their Sister Club guests. This was the occasion for the traditional exchange of gifts between the clubs, presidents and international service directors. Here, Pres. Rene exchanged gifts with RC Taoyuan Pres. Case, DGN Robert, who stood in for International Service Dir. Rodrigo Segura, delivered an impromptu message, and the RC Taoyuan Rotary Anns performed a dance number. Activities started a midafternoon on the 6 th at the lobby of the Chuto Hotel with an exhibition of the winners and other entries of a photography contest held earlier. This was followed by the exquisite tea ceremony, an elaborate ritual of tea and exquisite rice cakes presided over by RC Taoyuan Rotary Anns who had been trained in the art by Rotary Ann Betty, spouse of PDG Archi, a member of RC Taoyuan. The room was set up with reeds of bamboo, transforming it into a veritable bamboo garden. Everyone moved to the ballroom of Chuto Hotel for the main program, which began at 5 PM, and the formal banquet that followed. The Club delegation had agreed to go Filipiniana, so they stood out, the ladies Concert and Welcome Dinner Tea Party 50th Charter Anniversary banquet in their ternos and kimonos, the men in their formal Barong Tagalog. PP Cesar Campos drew applause when he did a belly dance with a lady dancer. Pres Rene and other club presidents delivered short messages. In his message, Pres. Rene traced the history of the relations between the two clubs, and thanked Kaunlaran No. 17 15 November 2011 RC Taoyuan for their assistance in many RCM projects, their annual visits to Manila, and their warm hospitality. He also greeted Pres Case ‘happy birthday,’ a happenstance that caught the Taoyuan Rotarians by surprise. As it turned ........... To page 7

Case, and noticed the birthday entry. He called the attention of DGN Robert who lost no time in sending a note to Pres. Rene about it. Entertainment came via a professional performer who sang and danced while doing magic tricks. The banquet was a sumptuous 12-course lauriat that was enjoyed by all, hosts and guests alike. 7
