Club, Frank Chavez honored by Makati
City Government
The City Government of Makati
gave recognition to RC Makati
and Frank Chavez in ceremonies
marking Children’s Assembly 2011
on the 26 th of October 2011 at the
University of Makati. The Children’s
Assembly was the culmination
of the celebration of National
Children’s Month (October) by the
City Government and the Makati
City Council for the Protection of
Children (MCCPC).
The award conferred on the Club was
in recognition of its “unwavering support and
funding of various programs and activities of
the City Government of Makati through the
Makati Social Welfare Department (MSWD)
for the welfare, development and protection
of the children of Makati.” It was received by
Pres. Rene Limjoco.
Another plaque was given to Frank
Chavez in appreciation and recognition of
Pres. Rene Limjoco Dir. Fred Menzel
his staunch advocacy of the protection of
children’s rights which led to his involvement
in and contributions to Bantay Bata, which he
has chaired since its inception in 1996. The
Bantay Bata program is a joint undertaking of
the Club and the Makati SWD. Fred Menzel
received the plaque for Frank.
The highlight of the program was the
2 nd State of the Children Address by Mayor
Jejomar Erwin “Jun Jun” Binay, Jr., who is
concurrently chair of the MCCPC. Ms. Marjorie
de Veyra, MSWD head and MCCPC co-chair,
also delivered a special message. PP Cesar
Campos was also present at the event.
The event also coincided with the
awarding of prizes to the winners of the 2011
Search for the Most Friendly Barangay in
Makati, an activity for National Children’s
Month.
Sponsorships for Christmas Bazaar now
at P235,000 . . . more needed
The Christmas Bazaar has been a great help for the Club for the
past twenty-three years. It has generated upwards of P15 million since
its first run in November 1988, an amount that’s nothing to sneeze at.
This year, more than most years in the past, the Club needs
funds to keep it running smoothly and ensure that the projects get done
on schedule. The bazaar raises funds from the rental of space by the
vendors, the sale of tickets, and proceeds from the White Elephant
table. One of the main means to raise money is through sponsorships,
a job that this year falls on the shoulders of Pres. Rene Limjoco. Pres.
Rene has been making calls, tapping shoulders and pushing buttons
to get the cash registers ringing, so to speak. His efforts have so far
yielded P235,000, and counting, we hope.
He would like to give due recognition and thanks to the following

Manila Peninsula also donated a gift certificate for an overnight
weekend stay in a deluxe room for two, with breakfast, while PP Freddie
Borromeo & Ann Jojo will be providing the door prizes for the bazaar
and the Last Angel presents for the wards of the Bahay Maria orphanage
and the 60 children enrolled in the feeding program in Binondo.
