Counselor Barbara Hooper will be
available at (he Senior Center
Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 9 to 11
a.m. Those with questions
regarding medical bills or
insurance coverage, may take them
lo Barbara. She will be happy to
assist. If ill or disabled at home,
i unable to go to the Center, call
657-7595 or 658-2258 and
arrangements will be made for
Barbara to talk with you by phone
or if necessary, she will meet in
your home.
Senior pharmacy
Those with questions regarding
the Senior Pharmacy Program,
Barbara can help. The present
program was closed out August 31.
As of that date applications have
stopped.
Barbara has to attend many
meetings on this program and
other medical insurance coverages,
along with the latest changes in
Medicare and Medic aid. She will
answer questions on all of them. If
for some reason, she cannot
answer a question, she will
research the answer.
Hospice care program
Many seniors are not aware of
the Hospice care program. This
program was implemented to help
family members care for another
family member dying from a
terminal illness, whose wish is to
die in their home.
I had a first hand look look at
this wonderful program. Medicare
covers 100 percent of all medical
treatments and needed medical
equipment. As soon as they are
notified that Hospice Care, is
needed, services are started.
Financial information is never
asked. A hospital bed is set up in
the home, along with other
necessary medical appliances.
Nurses and medication arrive
throughout the day. The family
member of the dying person will
work along with the professional
when needed, to allow them to be
close to their loved one right to the
end. There are no words to be
found that can adequately thank
these dedicated people, many
volunteering their services, others
working for little, lo help a person
and their family through their last
days and hours.
Bereavement program
After the passing. Hospice Care
also has a bereavement program
and support groups. A program
providing a place to express
feelings, share experiences, learn
about grief that lingers after the
death of a loved one and how to
move ahead. If interested in more

The fall meals program has

Monday: Baked ham with
pineapple, sweet potato, seasoned
green beans, oatmeal bread and
butter, Jello with topping, milk.
Tuesday: Chilled orange juice,
spaghetti & meatballs, tossed
garden salad, French bread and
butter, white cake with frosting,
milk.
Wednesday: Pork cutlets with
gravy, creamy mashed potato,
seasoned carrots, lite rye and
butter, chilled applesauce,
brownie, milk.
Thursday: Chilled apple juice,
oven baked teriyaki, chicken,
whipped potato, seasoned butternut
squash, wheat bread and butter,
pudding with topping, milk.
Friday: Baked lemon pepper
fish, tartar sauce on the side, rice
pilaf, seasoned broccoli, dinner
roll and butter, chilled mixed fruit,
milk, ice cream.

Friday: Fiesta Fish, O'Brien
potato, corn, multigrain bread,
chilled mixed fruit, milk; alt.

following week, whether eating at
the school or at home. Any senior
confined to home with an illness or
disability can have a meal
delivered by calling the Senior

served are $ 1.00.

will focus on computer/business
skills, financial planning, health,
hobbies, and other topics of

Community Schools provides
residents of Wilmington and

skills or just to enjoy a night out in

computer courses have been able to
expand the number of students per
class due to increased computer
