Room with a view
Health care on the banks of the mighty Mississippi
St. Cloud Hospital’s 360,000-square-foot expansion was designed to take advantage
of its proximity to the Mississippi River. Most of the private patient rooms and family lounges
offer spectacular panoramic views of the gorgeous Mississippi as well as the stately trees along
its banks.
The building includes 188 windows, most of which face east, toward the river. The brick exterior
was designed to complement the original 1926 structure, which is still in use, as well
as numerous additions completed over the decades.
Libby Wenderski, RN, Medical Progressive Care Unit coordinator, overheard a patient’s family
member say “I feel like I am trolling in my boat. I wish I had my fishing pole right now.
The view is amazing.”
