after triple bypass heart surgery<br />
As a person who has run multiple marathons in the past five years and worked long<br />
hours as a tax accountant, Carol Halvorson, age 67 of Clearwater, knew something<br />
was seriously wrong when she became winded walking across the room<br />
in February 2011.<br />
She saw her primary doctor, who ordered a stress test followed by an angiogram.<br />
The next day, she underwent triple bypass surgery at <strong>CentraCare</strong> Heart & Vascular<br />
Center at St. Cloud Hospital.<br />
“A nurse called me right after my angiogram and convinced me that I needed to<br />
come in right away,” Carol said. “I handed my staff the stack of appointments for<br />
the day, and said I had to go.”<br />
Five weeks after surgery, Carol was back at the office finalizing taxes for her clients<br />
at Clearwater Tax & Accounting Service.<br />
“Dr. (Richard) Backes and Dr. (John) Castro were both wonderful,” Carol said.<br />
“I can’t say enough good things about them.”<br />
