10:<strong>122</strong>-8.2 Admission criteria<br />
9. The preparation, frequency and serving <strong>of</strong> meals that are appropriate <strong>for</strong> the<br />
<strong>child</strong>'s illnesses, symptoms <strong>of</strong> illness or diseases; and<br />
10. The center's policy on communicating with parents concerning the <strong>child</strong>'s<br />
illnesses, symptoms <strong>of</strong> illness or diseases.<br />
(d) The center shall arrange <strong>for</strong> a New Jersey licensed physician to serve as its<br />
consulting physician, providing medical advice and assistance on an on-call basis.<br />
(e) The center shall have a governing board or an advisory board, which shall<br />
oversee the development <strong>of</strong> and approve in writing its policies and procedures, as<br />
specified in (c) above. The governing or advisory board shall include at least two <strong>of</strong><br />
the following licensed health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals:<br />
1. A physician licensed by the New Jersey Board <strong>of</strong> Medical Examiners;<br />
and/or<br />
2. A registered nurse licensed by the New Jersey State Board <strong>of</strong> Nursing;<br />
and/or<br />
3. A local health <strong>of</strong>ficial.<br />
(f) The consulting physician shall approve in writing the policies and procedures<br />
specified in (c) above.<br />
10:<strong>122</strong>-8.2 Admission criteria<br />
GEN (a) The center shall not admit a sick <strong>child</strong> below three months <strong>of</strong> age unless the<br />
<strong>child</strong> has been seen and diagnosed by his or her health <strong>care</strong> provider who indicates in<br />
writing that the <strong>child</strong> can be admitted.<br />
(b) The center shall require that a parent or an adult authorized by the parent<br />
accompany each <strong>child</strong> during admission to the center.<br />
10:<strong>122</strong>-8.3 Requirements <strong>for</strong> additional staff <strong>for</strong> <strong>centers</strong> serving sick <strong>child</strong>ren<br />
GEN (a) The staff <strong>requirements</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>centers</strong> serving sick <strong>child</strong>ren are as follows:<br />
1. In addition to the staff members required in N.J.A.C. 10:<strong>122</strong>-4.2, the center<br />
shall ensure that a physician licensed by the New Jersey Board <strong>of</strong> Medical Examiners<br />
or a registered nurse licensed by the New Jersey State Board <strong>of</strong> Nursing is at the<br />
center during the hours <strong>child</strong>ren are in attendance.<br />
2. The staff member specified in (a)1 above may also serve as the head<br />
teacher, group teacher, or program supervisor where applicable, provided that:<br />
i. The person meets the staff qualification <strong>requirements</strong> <strong>for</strong> such<br />
positions, based on the center size and type, as specified in N.J.A.C. 10:<strong>122</strong>-4.6(c)<br />
and (d); or<br />
ii. The person has two years <strong>of</strong> work experience with <strong>child</strong>ren <strong>of</strong> the<br />
age group being served.<br />
