Vocational placement
Students studying a Certificate III all undertake
vocational placement as part of their training. This
is a great opportunity for students to experience a
real work environment with an employer, making
students highly employable on graduation.
Our Vocational Placement Officer’s strong links
with industry ensure students find a suitable
placement.
SkillsTech Australia has an arrangement with
Chandler Macleod Group, Australasia’s secondlargest
recruitment, HR consulting and workforce
management company, for the placement of
suitable, highly qualified trade and engineering
graduates with major clients in regional Australia
on successful completion of study. With
Queensland's current mining boom, the emerging
Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) industry, and the
roll-out of broadband across Australia, there are
significant employment opportunities in these
fields for SkillsTech Australia graduates.
Jau-Iou Lin (Taiwan) on the tools
“It has been very worthwhile training an
international student for vocational placement.
The experience Jau-Iou Lin gained at SkillsTech
Australia assisted him to be work ready and he
has been quick in picking up tasks given to him
on the worksite. He shows initiative and is always
keen to do his best. If a position comes up in the
future, I would consider taking him on as one of
my workers.”
“Training at SkillsTech Australia and doing a
vocational placement at Torque Toyota Strathpine
has been very positive The work conditions are
good and their staff assisted me in learning many
different aspects of becoming a mechanic. The
training I received at SkillsTech Australia gave me
good knowledge that I can take to any workplace.
After this course I would love to go on to working
full-time with an Australian company so I can
gain further knowledge and skills.”
“Our experience in having an international student
doing vocational placement has been a positive
and rewarding one.
We feel it has been advantageous to both the
student and our company. We would have no
hesitation in employing him full-time.”
