Me<strong>in</strong>hard II. 1257/1271-1295<br />

Me<strong>in</strong>hard, c. 1237, to 30.10.1295 Greifenberg, began <strong>the</strong> rule <strong>in</strong> Goerz <strong>and</strong> Tirol toge<strong>the</strong>r with his bro<strong>the</strong>r Albert after<br />

<strong>the</strong> death <strong>of</strong> his fa<strong>the</strong>r Me<strong>in</strong>hard <strong>in</strong> 1259. He married <strong>the</strong> Wittelsbacher<strong>in</strong> Elizabeth, widow <strong>of</strong> k<strong>in</strong>g Konrad IV., who<br />

made <strong>the</strong> important connection to Rudolf <strong>of</strong> hav<strong>in</strong>g a castle. He surrendered Görz <strong>in</strong> 1271 to his bro<strong>the</strong>r. He is considered<br />

as a creator <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> country Tirol, to which he gave a strict adm<strong>in</strong>istration.<br />
