WHYTHE<br />
PROTECTOR?<br />
We toyed with various ideas, themes and phrases to match them before zeroing on<br />
the “<strong>The</strong> <strong>Protector</strong>” as the title of this magazine. Suddenly we found it right in front<br />
of our very own eyes. Yes, the whole exercise was akin to searching for one’s specs<br />
while wearing them. In fact, the title is right in the Mumbai Police Motto, like a<br />
diamond waiting to be prised out. <strong>The</strong> motto reads thus in Sanskrit:<br />
“Sadrakshnaaya Khalnighrahanaaya”, meaning “To Protect the Good and to<br />
Punish the Evil.” Eureka, we shouted. <strong>The</strong>n it's “<strong>The</strong> <strong>Protector</strong>” and that's it.<br />
