development and cultivating a positive religious identity with Egyptian youth.<br />

Founder of Al Tareeq Al Sah (<strong>The</strong> Right Way) Institute, Moez Masoud is a leading activist for<br />

<strong>Islamic</strong> education and a popular preacher trained in the <strong>Islamic</strong> sciences recognized for his global<br />

influence through media productions on television and on YouTube.<br />

Al Shugairi is a televangelist with a huge following around the world. He is at the forefront of a<br />

religious revivalist movement that is affecting young people across the Middle East. In addition to<br />

his work as a television host, al Shugairi is the founder of the youth-centric coffee shop, Andalus<br />

Cafe. With no formal <strong>Islamic</strong> training and an MBA, his popularity comes from repackaging a<br />

balanced understanding of Islam for his throngs of fans of all ages.<br />

Mohammed Abass is the president and spokesperson of the Ghana Muslim Students Association<br />

(GMSA) for the Greater Accra Region. Ghana has a substantial Muslim population and an active<br />

and growing array of evangelist Christian churches, but has not been the victim of much interfaith<br />

tension. <strong>The</strong> GMSA has been noted for its promotion of community activism and successful<br />

attempts to engage with the demands of young <strong>Muslims</strong>, conducting social work and leadership<br />

training for its members and constituents.<br />

AFGHANISTAN<br />

A young emerging leader in Afghanistan, Andeisha Farid founded the Afghan Child Education and<br />

Care Organization (AFCECO) at the age of 25. AFCECO provides housing, education, health care<br />

and vocational training through a network of orphanages around the country and in Pakistan.<br />

INDONESIA<br />

Irfan Amalee created the Peace Generation Program that trains peace agents, develops peace<br />

education modules, and promotes books door-to-door. It has since grown into a community of<br />

over 10,000 young people who have set up their own training and book-retail businesses from<br />

Aceh to Sulawesi. Amalee is also the youngest member of Mizan Publishers, where he established<br />

Pelangi Mizan, a Muslim children’s book publication. He was a recipient of the British Council’s<br />

2008 International Young Creative Entrepreneur Award.<br />
