The Frank Lockwood Foundation is in place today through the generosity of Mike, Tom and Gail Lockwood. The family foundation was created to honor their father, husband, and our founder, Mr. Frank Lockwood. The vision driving this foundation is quite simply to help children. If you have a personal cause contact a committee member to see if the foundation can help you help them. (Margaret Graff, Karen de la Garza, Pam Moore or Laura Fitzgerald). Giving Back To Our Community January 27, 2010, Lockwood representatives met with Dr. Morey Haymond, Chief of Endocrinology and Dr. Maria Perez, Rheumatology, at Texas Children’s Hospital to deliver a donation check from the Frank Lockwood Foundation. As a result, the Foundation is now a lifetime member in TCH’s Ambassadors at Palladium level. Funds received via Ambassadors benefit The Pavilion for Women which is scheduled to open in early 2012. This extension of TCH will provide for the pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and post-pregnancy needs of babies and their mothers. This project will initially add 90 beds to the 564 currently licensed. Now one of the largest pediatric hospitals Left to right: Dr. Maria Perez, Mark Lindsey, Laura Fitzgerald, Dr. Morey Haymond in the U.S., TCH records over 1.5 million patient visits per year and nearly every pediatric speciality and subspecialty is represented at Texas Children’s Hospital. In fact, they have received recognition for their expertise and breakthrough developments in treating cancer, diabetes, asthma, HIV, premature babies, cardio and attentionrelated disorders. TCH’s mantra is to never turn a child away due to inability to pay. The Frank Lockwood Foundation looks forward to watching Texas Children’s Hospital implement these plans and continue in their journey to help more and more children.

Tom and Mike met last year in San Antonio when Mike was invited to attend the U.S. Army’s annual Recruiting Command’s Center of Influence (COI) tour in 2010 to present a donation. Tom graciously received another generous scholarship donation from the Frank Lockwood Foundation, this time presented by Betty Allen, C.A.O. And Mark Lindsey, C.F.O. Tom explained to Betty and Mark the purpose of the Freedom Alliance and its mission to assure the children of fallen military personnel (or 100% disabled during active duty) know that a grateful nation will never forget the ultimate sacrifice made by their parent for this country. While nothing can bring back a parent, the Freedom Alliance, pioneered by Col. Oliver North, is able to step in and the “hero scholarships” these children earn remind them that a grateful nation still remembers as well, right along with them. Keep up the good work, Tom! Lockwood’s big heart was evident yet again, In less than a week a last minute effort yielded boxes of backpacks and bags of school supplies that were shuttled down to our local YMCA, providing school supplies to dozens of children. Challenge... There are children in need all over the world, so let’s find them, Lockwood! Your participation is needed and we’d love to hear how YOUR branch is contributing to your local communities. “Being good is commendable, but only when it is combined with doing good is it useful.” (Anonymous) Koleta Parsley has been working with our I.T. department and Compudopt to donate Lockwood’s gently used computer equipment to children who might never own a machine otherwise. Here are just a few of the thanks that Lockwood received from some of those grateful kids: “…Thank you for caring about me.” (Jose) “Thank you…I am another smiling little girl to you, but to me you are a very kind person.” (Rosa) “…on behalf of my whole family, we thank you very, very much.” (Kiara) “…you made our wish real….thank you.” (Diana and Marisol) “…I do not have the words to thank you...” (Edith) This year’s Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scrambler recipient for Lockwood is Ms. Jazzmine Vasquez of Galena Park FFA. Jazzmine caught the calf that Lockwood sponsored (no simple feat) and by doing so will be able to purchase a heifer to raise over the next year. She will then be eligible to sell that heifer at auction and use the money to further her education. We are very proud to support young people through the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
