DOCTRINAL SUMMARY
The Bible serves as the most inclusive of all avenues of God’s special revelation, for it
encompasses the record of many aspects of the other avenues of special revelation
(such as dreams, angels, events, prophets, visions, Jesus Christ, etc.). God undoubtedly
gave other messages that were not recorded in the Bible, and even many things about the
life of Christ are not contained in Scripture (John 21:25). But, the Bible does contain all
of the information about Him and His plan that we need to know in order to be faithful
to Him. It is accurate, progressive, and purposeful.
The Scriptures reveal His divine power that “has granted us everything pertaining to
life and godliness through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory
and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises,
in order that by them you might become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption of the world by lust.” (2Peter 1:3,4). So the Bible is both the record of
aspects of God’s special revelation and revelation itself.
