Roger Powell, chairman of Yarl<strong>in</strong>gton Hous<strong>in</strong>g Group said<br />
“This is our first project <strong>in</strong> West Dorset, and we are delighted<br />

worked toge<strong>the</strong>r to enable this to come about.”<br />
Robert Gould, Leader of West Dorset District Council, said<br />
“Provid<strong>in</strong>g decent, af<strong>for</strong>dable homes <strong>for</strong> local people is <strong>the</strong><br />
district council’s top priority. I am thrilled that by hand<strong>in</strong>g<br />

of around £425,000, <strong>the</strong> district council has helped ano<strong>the</strong>r<br />
eleven families improve <strong>the</strong>ir life by mov<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>to a new<br />
home.”<br />
The development is located with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> conservation area,<br />

similar to <strong>the</strong> local stone, designed to fit <strong>in</strong> with <strong>the</strong><br />
aes<strong>the</strong>tic beauty of <strong>the</strong>ir surround<strong>in</strong>gs. Although <strong>the</strong> site is<br />
with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> permitted development area, as it is a rural<br />
scheme it <strong>in</strong>corporates many susta<strong>in</strong>able elements with<strong>in</strong><br />
<strong>the</strong> build, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g Ground Source Heat Pumps provid<strong>in</strong>g<br />

Tim expla<strong>in</strong>ed that <strong>the</strong> company tries to foster a close-knit<br />
<strong>community</strong> with<strong>in</strong> all new developments, and as several<br />
tenants already knew each o<strong>the</strong>r it was easier <strong>in</strong> this case -<br />
<strong>the</strong>y’ve helped one o<strong>the</strong>r with removals and have already<br />
had neighbourhood barbeques.<br />
Controversial it may have been, but <strong>the</strong>re’s no doubt<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong><br />
