Three family winners at All-Ireland Fleadh 1995
Congratulations to the Kavanagh family from Em yvale, Co. Monaghan,
who were aI/ winners in the English Sean N6s singing competitions at the
7995 AI/-Ireland Fleadh in Listowel, Co. Kerry. Pictured left to right are
Rfona, winner of th e ladies 72- 75; Michael, senior men's, and D6nal,
men's under- 7 2. Rfona has also won the ladies under- 7 2 in 7993 in
Clonmel. They are aI/ members of the Em yvale CCE branch and their
teacher is Mr Cerard McQuaid also from Emyvale.
Dennis Patrick Long was honoured in St Louis with the Clan na
Cael award as Irishman of the year by the Ancient Order of
Hibernians. Helen and PI Ca nnon made a special presentation to
Dennis on behalf of St Louis Irish Arts and Comhaltas.
The evening was a Cala affa ir with Michael Roarty presenting the
Clan na Cael award to Dennis and Dennis himself took
everybody by surprise when he sang to his audience instead of
giving a speech. Picture shows Dennis Long (right) with

the TCRC and the ADCRC candidates in
two venues in North America during the
month of January. There were 44 candidates
in the New York region where a second
panel of examiners had to be added and 71
ca ndidates took the exam in the
Los Angeles Area.
The second edition of Or John P
CuI/inane's book on Irish dancing is now
available and a third book on the history of
Irish Dance Costumes is in the making.
The next convention of the North American Feis Commission is being hosted in St Louis
October 79th and 20th.
