It is a lie told over and over again. This misconception is that good people go to heaven. The major problem with this statement is the fact that there are no good people. Of course from our viewpoint there are many people who lead decent lives, do no harm to other people and are generally pleasant. So, in our opinion we might call them good. However, as in many things in life our opinions do not count. Because no matter how many little old ladies we help cross the road or how many kittens we rescue we are all still stained with sin. Another difficulty with that statement is the fact that it has no basis in the scripture. Our opinions do not count, but what does matter is the word of God. Because if our thoughts, ideas or teachings about heaven or God are not based in His word then there is no foundation of truth for that thing. But, what does God have to say about good people? Psalm 14:2 The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one. If you want to sponsor them, please email us! By Vincent Menezes THIS MONTH IN HISTORY And in the New Testament the same message is repeated in Romans chapter 3. Even Jesus himself affirmed that there were no good people, that is from God’s viewpoint, which is the only one that counts, in the book of Mark. Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God. Remember entrance into eternal life is not based upon your works because they will never be good enough. Because if we could work our way into heaven then Christ would not have needed to die for our sins upon the cross. It is plainly stated in Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. It is a gift, it cannot be earned nor is it deserved. The only thing you can really do with the gift is either accept it or reject it. Personally I would advise accepting the gift through faith in Christ. Because the alternative is not pleasant. If you need more information on the subject of you have any questions just let me know.
