Combat Personal Equipment Assembling the Water Bottle Pouches To attach the water bottle pouches, detach the left and right side parts from the middle part. You will see 3 straps, with the longest one in the middle, as shown in the picture on the following page. Step 1 a) Take the two shorter straps and pass them through the two loops at the back of the water bottle pouch. b) Then, fasten the bottom strap to the bottom buckle on the side of the centrepiece of the SBO and tighten it. Also, fasten the top strap to the top buckle and tighten it.
