COMBAT PERSONAL EQUIPMENT These are basic Personal Equipment (PE) items issued to you during BMT. The items issued to you are dependent on the unit you are posted to. ARMY LOGISTICS 21 A PILLAR OF CONFIDENCE
PE 1: HELMET The Helmet serves as the basic protection for a soldier’s head, ears and neck during combat. It protects his head against grenade and mortar shrapnel and other dangerous high-speed objects. Parts of the Helmet 1) Suspension Assembly Combat Personal Equipment The suspension assembly consists of crown straps anchored at 5 points on the headband. It holds the neck supporting pads and Y-shaped quickrelease buckle. The Y-shaped quick-release buckle allows adjustment to be made to the rear. Adjustments to the front can be made using the two front ladderloc buckles.
