The CleanCare 3-Step System
Recently, there has been a renewed emphasis placed on good hand hygiene.
According to CDC publications:
• More than 2 million patients contract hospital-acquired
infections, including MRSA; as many as 90,000 of these
patients will die from these infections.*
• Hospital-acquired infections add over
$5 billion annually to healthcare costs**
Additionally, in 2004 JCAHO modified its recommended hand hygiene guidelines
to include the use of hand sanitizers, and added the following to its list of
National Patient Safety Goals:
• Reduce the risk of healthcare-acquired infections;
comply with the current CDC hand hygiene guidelines. +

In Vivo Glove Juice Antimicrobial Efficacy Study:
Exidine® 2% CHG
Summary
This study was performed per methodology
specified by the FDA Tentative Final Monograph
(TFM) Protocol for Healthcare Antiseptic Drug
Products (21 CFR Parts 333 and 369). Test subjects
scrubbed for 1.5 minutes with about 8mL of product
without a brush and rinsed for 30 seconds. They
repeated this process and dried thoroughly.
Immediate, persistent and residual antimicrobial
effects were then measured.
Results
The test product, Exidine® solution with 2% CHG,
produced significant immediate log10 reductions of
1.56 on test day one, 2.17 on test day two and 3.28
on test day five. On these test days, microorganism
populations recovered in the three-hour and sixhour
samples remained below the baseline
populations. These reductions meet and exceed
the requirements of the FDA’s TFM for Surgical
Hand Scrub products. See graph to right.
Glove Juice Sampling Study:
CleanCare 0.3% Triclosan
Summary
5mL aliquots of approximately 108 S. marcescens
was pipetted onto subjects’ hands. After a oneminute
air-dry, a baseline sample level was
established, followed by a hand wash with Ivory®
liquid soap. This inoculation/wash procedure was
repeated 10 times with a minimum of five minutes
between applications. A transient microorganism
sampling of the hands was performed after
inoculation/product wash cycles 1, 3, 7 and 10,
using the Glove Juice Sampling procedure.

Summary
This study was performed per methodology
outlined in the U.S. Pharmacopeia XXIII – Antimicrobial
Preservatives – Effectiveness. A cell suspension of the
test organism was added to an aliquot of the test
sample at a level of 0.5mL per 100mL. The bacterial
suspension included E. coli, P. aeruginosa, P. cepacia
and S. aureus.

Each bar on the graph represents the mean difference in the reduction of bacterial
counts on the hands between subjects using Amino+Derm® moisturizing emulsion
and subjects who did not use Amino+Derm® emulsion. Values greater than zero
indicate that the average log10 reduction of bacteria among groups applying
Amino+Derm® moisturizing emulsion after scrubbing and prior to gloving is greater
than the average log 10 reduction of bacteria among groups not using Amino+Derm®
moisturizing emulsion. The data demonstrates that in all cases there was no adverse
effect on antimicrobial action as a result of using Amino+Derm® moisturizing

CleanCare
Soap/Lotion Dispensers
• Mount dispenser-size liquid soap to the wall
for easy access
Our soap/lotion dispensers hold clear plastic
refills (see pp. 4-5, 8-10) that make it easy to see
the solution level to know when the cartridge
needs to be changed. Choose from two types:
Dispenser DISCC50 features a push bar which meets
the guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities Act
(ADA) and can be operated even by the elderly or
physically challenged. Dispenser can be calibrated
to control the amount of soap dispensed.
Dispensers DISOFT1200 and AL9000 feature a
spout attached to the canister that’s discarded with
each replacement to help eliminate the bacterial
buildup, common in older systems. A self-venting
pump eliminates the need to puncture canisters.
The front of the dispenser lifts up for access to
the cartridge.
