The front and backs of the pages were sewn together, face to face, turned and hand quilted. Buffalo Album This soft album was inspired by an actual old Guide book of Buffalo, NY. The cover was made with a rubbing of the original book. The small illustrations on the six pages of this album were painted onto the screens with screen drawing fluid, screen filler was spread over them to make the stencils that were used to print the pages.
Tumbling Blocks I loved the way that the book rubbings looked when they were printed. Blending the colors (black and magenta) made them even more interesting. I started to make a series of works that were of traditional quilt bocks created with book rubbings. Three diamonds were laid out on the screen with a seam allowance between each. The rubbings were made in these diamonds. The three were printed onto different colored fabrics as one print. Then they were cut apart and assembled to make this hanging. Machine quilted.
