Following a patient journey Patient presents with testicular lump – making the referral Reviewing Adams’ referral Tip Demonstration Environment User Guide: Page 31 of 49 It is possible for you to follow a patient journey through the referral process within the Bookings and Referrals area to see what tasks each role performs. To do this you will need to either work with a colleague, each logging in as a different user and taking a different role or, to do this on your own you will need to log on and off as different users and roles as appropriate. The following is an example of a patient journey that you can follow within the Bookings and Referrals area – you can of course make up many of your own patient journeys using the pre-populated data. Log on to the CBDE - enter the Bookings and Referrals area and choose Barbara Rogers and her Referring Clinician role You will need to search for your patient who, on this occasion is Adam Pinner, a male over 60 years old (NHS number: 4567890123 DOB: 27/09/1940) Adam presents with a testicular lump in the body of the testis You know this requires a Urology referral After selecting to create an appointment request, you choose Urology from the Specialty drop down and Haematuria (not 2WW) from the Clinic Type drop down You can now complete the booking, create and send the referral letter for Adam. Log on to CBDE - enter the Booking and Referrals area and choose Michael Page and his Service Provider Clinician role You check your ‘Referrals for Review’ worklist and see a new referral with Adam’s UBRN You check the referral letter details and decide to accept the referral You return to your homepage and Adam’s referral is no longer listed. You may decide, when using this scenario, that the referring clinician will not complete the booking. If this is the case once you have requested an appointment for Adam you will need to log off as the referring clinician and log back in to CBDE as James Adcock, for example, with his Referring Admin role. You will need to search for Adam Pinner and then complete his booking.
