Comparison of the collections from the pottery cache
and uoundfill leads to the following conclusions:
1. The same types of pottery are found in both
uoundfill and in the pottery cache.
2. Nearly twice as u.uch Complicated Staaped ware
is found in r~ouudfill as in the cache. There is,
however, no change in the relative proportions of
the large, poorly executed staup as the small, neat
Complicated Stanp. This may mean siuplythat
Complicated Stamped was not favored as a nortuary
we.
3. There is slightly uore Check Stamped pottery in the
cache than in the rroundfill.
4. Plain ware constitutes nearly half of the total
series in both soundfill and cache.
5. There is a slight suggestion, probably not significant
in the light of the smallness of the sample, that
there is more Red Fainted pottery in the cache.
‘5. The whole pottery series, uoundfill and cache,
comprises a relatively hofiiogeneous asseublage,
apparently laid down at one time interval in the
Ileeden Island period.
7. Noticeably absent are the excised and effigy forms
found elsewhere in southwest Georgia in Ceeden Island
burial Rounds (hoore on the Flint, Sears at Rolouoki
Rounds, Blakely County, Georgia).
