Charting a Course for Success —By Mr. Robert Clampett - Headmaster 2 | The Legacy Excellence in education seldom happens in isolation. More often than not it is through a collaborative process and a team oriented approach that significant accomplishments are achieved and success is measured both on an individual basis and from an organizational perspective. This concept is validated in the classroom and beyond on a daily basis in educational settings across all levels both nationally and internationally. Just take a few minutes to engage in some reflective thinking and consider all the important people and experiences that played a role in your growth and development and you will understand my point. Coral Springs Christian Academy is no exception to the rule. I would like to take this opportunity recognize the outstanding accomplishments that our school has made over the past ten years and the multitude of committed and dedicated Christian educators and stakeholders that have helped to make that happen. Looking forward to the next decade, I have a great deal of continued optimism about the future of our school. Having been present at every high school graduation since the class of 2001, I have seen first hand how the Lord has blessed our school and how it has prospered and stepped up to met many challenges along the road to success. I have seen clearly where we have been and understand where we need to go. Let me take some time to mention a few of the key areas. One of the foundational aspects of our school is our focus on whole child education. Unlike other schools that sell out to teach to a test or to put all their eggs in one or two baskets, we recognize the value and worth of each child and concentrate on developing the student in a variety of ways, academically, socially, developmentally and spiritually. This provides the student with a rich and rewarding educational experience that transcends the classroom. More and more of our students are taking part in activities associated with our school and church that speak to this multi dimensional approach and that is a big reason why it is so important for us to continue on this course. Many of our alumni have expressed to me how well prepared they are in the post secondary arena because we embrace this concept. Another very important positive aspect of our school growth and success is tethered to our accreditation status. We currently hold four significant accreditations: ACSI, SACS, FCIS and FKC. Ten years ago we only had one accreditation from a regional association. It was not until 2004 that our high school became accredited by ACSI and SACS, two highly regarded accrediting associations with national and international presence. Those accreditations were earned through a great deal of hard work, dedication and commitment of our stakeholders along with a lot of prayers. In 2005, CSCA was again accredited by FCIS. This was a first for our emerging high school since our prior accreditation with them was earned in 1999 before we graduated our first class and applied only to the elementary and middle school. I can proudly say that in March of 2009 we received preliminary approval for our new five year accreditation through ACSI and SACS. The final report is due in June. Our school received very high marks across the board. We are scheduled to go through another FCIS visit sometime in 2010, which I am confident will be a success. Just a few of the commendations that came from the visiting committee in March that are worth mentioning: 1) Highest level of teacher certification ever in the history of the school 2) Deep sense of community and family atmosphere 3) Outstanding improvement as it relates to our curriculum “You were good five years ago, you are better now”. 4) Cohesiveness of administrative team 5) Outreach to the community As a graduate you can be very proud that your school has passed the test, your school has weathered the storm, and your school has been judged by a jury of our educational peers as excellent and exemplary. Take the opportunity to celebrate the fact
that a Coral Springs Christian Academy education and diploma has merit, value and worth associated with it and is recognized accordingly by the colleges and universities across the country as well as by our accrediting associations. Several years ago we contracted with a local architectural firm to develop a school wide master plan for future facilities development. This firm had experience dealing with schools and churches in Florida and had a stellar reputation in the educational community. I am pleased to say that the master plan has been completed and once we are finished with several of our projects that are now underway, we will revisit our master plan and consider our options, funding and our vision for the future. In closing I would like to comment on the significant progress that we have made in the area of discipleship and evangelism concentrating on our spiritual formation. Having personally just returned from Acapulco, Mexico and the MTW Casa Hogar facility for orphaned and displaced children, I can tell you first hand that our school continues to reach out and serve in a powerful way to those less fortunate. We had a group of 17 excited and energized high school students and 5 adult chaperones take part in this week long missions work doing construction on site and spending meaningful time with the children and directors of the facility. This was a trans- Annual Beach Day formational experience for all of us. Each year I see an intentional effort to bring more of our students into the fold in the areas of discipleship and evangelism. These are two of the benchmark areas that separate our Christian schools from other schools and provide us with a large part of our identity and spiritual focus. We now have more opportunities than ever before and more of our students are playing an active role and taking advantage of these opportunities. This year we added a service project for each of our varsity athletic teams as an outreach to the community which I feel will pay significant dividends as we go forward. Since many of you have graduated our chapel days have been upgraded along with our highly successful and always popular Spiritual Emphasis Week. I hope this provides you with a brief snapshot of our school and assists you with the navigational skills that will be necessary to help us chart a successful course for the future of Coral Springs Christian Academy. Congratulations to the class of 2000 for your accomplishments and for your pioneering spirit. We have some great opportunities on the horizon and we will need your continued support and prayers.
