4. Godʼs O.K.
ʼCos Heʼs my mate,
But thereʼs one thing
That I hate:
Thereʼs gonna be
One hell of a fuss
If He thinks Heʼs any better
Than one of us.
Iʼll stroke your back, you stroke mine,

5. Jesus came,
Said ʻThatʼs not the way—
Godʼs got a Family
Thatʼs here to stay.
You must repent
And believe in Me.ʼ
So we went out and hanged Him
On a tree.

1. Father You called me to set the slaves free;
ʻBring out my people so they can serve Me!ʼ
Lord, I canʼt keep Your demanding decree—
Surely You are a Bridegroom of blood to me.

6. Where does that leave us?
On a limb
All alone
Till we come to Him.
No one to tell us
Weʼre O.K.
Till all our sins
Are washed away.
Sins on your back, sins on mine,
If only we were free of them
Then weʼd be fine.
7. But what is this
That I see now?
Jesus is alive
But I donʼt know how.
It must be
That God loves me
And counts me in
On His Family.
2. You came to kill me and take back my life—
All that displeases comes under Your knife—
You give Your loved ones both blessing and strife.
Surely You are a Bridegroom of blood to me.
3. Jesus, You came for us sinners below
That we the love of the Father might know;
Jesus, You suffered the death-dealing blow—
Surely You are a Bridegroom of blood to me.
4. I have been touched by the covenant blood:
Now You will see me through fire and flood,
Rescue Your children and make us all free—
Surely You are a Bridegroom of blood to me.
