CLASS OF THE WEEK – 9RF
This semester has been a very busy one for 9RF!
We were sad to see our Innovations projects,
which helped us learn the fine art of term work and
compromise, draw to a close at the end of last term
on Exhibition Day. It was an amazing experience,
where we were all able to see firsthand how we can
help make the world a better place.
Meanwhile, in Spiritual Development, Miss Fisher’s
class has been working on researching the similarities
and differences between Christianity and other
religions such as Confucianism. We’re all looking
forward to seeing the presentations that each group
has prepared and maybe even sampling some food
from each different culture.
We can’t believe that there is only a few short weeks
until the end of Year 9. We hope that they’re just as
interesting and fun as the rest of the year has been!
YEAR 9 ENGLISH
The Year 9 students were lucky to be able to view
a performance of ‘Macbeth’ from Grin and Tonic.
Not only did this give the students the opportunity to
enjoy Shakespeare, it also gave them some useful
ideas for their upcoming oral assessment.
Perhaps the most entertaining aspect for the
students was that nine of their peers also joined in
with the performance. We had students playing the
roles of Macbeth, Banquo, the murderers, the King’s
sons, the witches and the doctor – and they did a
fantastic job! The students involved were: Sebastien
Maurice, Jett Smith, Haylani Kuruppu, Blanca
Arcayos, Jarrad Millard, Duc Truong, Natalie
Bentley, Mitchell Neilsen, and Jordan Webber.
ANNUAL EVENING OF EXCELLENCE
Congratulations to all our awardees in the Middle
School annouced on Wednesday evening. A special
congratulations to our students who received First in
their year groups: Mackenzie Barker and Samara
Paradine (Year 7), Akshaya Ajit (Year 8) and Dux
of the Middle School Tessa Markham.

SCHOOL DEBATING - Conor Anglim
This prize is presented to the Debater of the Year
from Year 9. Originally donated by Ms A. Simpson
and continued by the Simpson Family.
BEENLEIGH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BEST
ALL ROUNDER AWARD (Years 7-9) - Tiana Holder
Presented with the objective of lending
encouragement to ‘All Round’ students in Years 7-9
at Canterbury College. It is awarded to a student
who participates and achieves well in a wide range
of College activities. Donated by the Beenleigh
Chamber of Commerce.
